25.01.2022 I have totally enjoyed walking around our beautiful suburbs dropping brochures in your letter boxes. My volunteers and I have nearly finished. I have also heard from a number of people about their dissatisfaction with Melville Council. Especially council representatives not dealing with their concerns. It is not only disrespectful but also a derelict of duty. We need to make change.

25.01.2022 Hi all, There are current plans on the Melville council website about the development of the Murdoch, Fiona Stanley area. You can find it under the Building and Planning section and the tab for Community Consultation. The plan is listed as DAP-2019-6. It's open for comment until 12th Sept. Please have a look. My vision for this area would be to create a restuarant, coffee shop and local business precinct. A place to bring community together. Instead there is a plan for 3 fas...t food outlets and a petrol station, among other things. I would love to know your thoughts. See more

24.01.2022 Shame, shame Morrison Government for only expanding psychogical Medicare sessions for Victoria and tied to COVID. Peoples lives across Australia are at risk in providing insufficient therapy sessions. 10 sessions per year is NOT enough.

23.01.2022 Hi everyone. I am letting you know that I am running for Melville Council, for Bateman-Kardinya-Murdoch. The elections take place on 19th October 2019. You will however receive information about voting in the post towards the end of September. It is all done as a postal vote and I hope some of you will consider voting for me! You can contact me via email on [email protected]

22.01.2022 The decade ahead may be 'the era of massive change' for our cities and suburbs after COVID-19 http://www.abc.net.au//how-coronavirus-could-fore/12137122

21.01.2022 I have been working since January with the Melville City Climate Action Network. Our aim is to get Melville Council to join with over 100 other Councils, to declare a climate emergency and work with practical solutions to bring down carbon emissions to zero by 2030. Very exciting!

21.01.2022 My volunteers now have my brochures and soon some of you will get one in your letterbox. Please do your postal vote for Melville council when it arrives in about 3 weeks. We urgently need change and better representation in Council. Your vote can make it happen.

21.01.2022 Hello Facebook Community, I have enjoyed interacting with all of you throughout the campaign and have learned about the issues that matter to you all. I just want to inform you that my webpage, facebook page, campaign email and phone will stay open and active for the foreseeable future. If anyone wishes to contact me please feel free to do so.... Thank you for your kind support and feedback. And although the election results where not what we would have liked for Tangney I continue to be passionate about all the issues I raised. I am looking forward to continuing my involvement into the future. Dr Jillian Horton

20.01.2022 We have met individually with nearly every councillor, the Major and CEO and staff of the Council. Next step is getting signitures on a community petition to support the emergency declaration. We will sit in shopping centres, community markets and some door knocking.

20.01.2022 Starting out today putting brochures in your letter boxes. Lovely to be walking through our beautiful suburbs.

17.01.2022 Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great Christmas and start to 2020. Since just missing out on Melville Council election I have recently joined a local group working on getting Melville Council focused on practical ways to reduce CO2 emissions and have better climate and sustainability action. The group needs some people from Palmyra/Melville/Willagee and Bicton/Attadale/Alfred Cove wards to join in and help. Anyone else is also welcome. Anyone interested?

16.01.2022 Just had a lovely warm hug from someone in my electorate. So nice, and helped to warm me up on this rainy day in Perth!

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, Unfortunately, last night was not the outcome we were wanting. I lost by 72 votes, so it was very close. The results are up on the Melville Council website. However there were a lot of new people voted in, including a change in the Major. So I sincerely hope that the future direction will be positive. THANK YOU for all your support and assistance. It truely helped.

15.01.2022 To see really interesting news on how my campaign is going, click on this link. Please consider voting for me on Saturday 18 May! The biggest shock was Independent candidate in Tangney, Jillian Horton. Who? Where? Yeah exactly, I had to google too. Ms Horton is a veteran councillor in the area (which for those about to look up a map is the south side of the Perth river, inland from Fremantle), and I dont know if its her soothing counsellors voice, the missing in action Liberal member Ben Morton taking the seat for granted and not campaigning, or her simple and direct centrist platform, but she is turning heads of local voters. Crucially, in addition to a sizable chunk of first preference votes, Horton is getting good preference flows from everyone, and what really got my attention was Greens voters are putting her ahead of the ALP.

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, I have just been told there will also be a second public meeting held on 30th September for people living in the Northern Wards of Melville. Candidates will be speaking at the Melville Bowling Club (Canning Hwy, Alfred Cove) from 5.30 pm to 7.00pm. I wont be speaking at this meeting, only the one in Kardinya. I would love to hear if you have your voting material yet? Enjoy the lovely weather over the weekend.

14.01.2022 Hi everyone, You are warmly invited to a meeting in Kardinya at Morris Buzzacott Reserve community hall, on Monday 30th September from 3pm to 5pm. This is open to all community members and it will be a chance to meet and hear from myself and several other candidates running for council (Margaret Sandford and Tomas Fitzgerald) and George Gear, who is running for Mayor. Please come along if you can and let as many friends and family know about the event. I am looking forward to meeting you!

12.01.2022 Just saw the movie 2040. I would encourage everyone to see it. We can make a difference and turn things around for our environment and our futures.

10.01.2022 Another day campaigning and meeting members of my electorate in Tangney. Noticeably missing throughout this while campaign is Ben Morton, sitting Liberal. He has totally abandoned the people of Tangney. Have your vote make a difference and vote for someone who really cares on the 18th.

10.01.2022 I went to the Melville Council today to watch the ballot draw for council elections. I was in the Bateman, Kardinya and Murdoch draw and will be third on the list on the Ballot paper that everyone will recieve in the post in about two weeks. It will be a tight race and every single vote will count. Please encourage family, friends and others to vote. I sincerely hope I get elected so I can represent your voice in Council.

10.01.2022 Meet and Greet today at Rileys Cafe, Thursday 9th May. I had a number of very interesting and worthwhile conversations with people from my electorate today. Was important to hear their concerns and interests. #jillianhorton #independentfortangney #tangney #auspol #ausvotes #independent

08.01.2022 We celebrated together all the hard work of the campaign with a beautiful cake provided by my sister Joanne Hunter and cupcakes by Taylor Kent. Not all volunteers where able to attend the party but we drank a glass of champaign to them as well. My volunteers where terrific and my campaign manager Andrea Edmondson was outstanding in every aspect of her work and the support she provided to me was excellent.

08.01.2022 As more and more Headspace centres open, who will provide the expert front line services? No thought has gone into building up the workforce to do the psychological therapies with the young people and their families. Federal funding needs to be urgently injected into opening up more post graduate training places in Clinical and Counselling psychology around the country so that young people can obtain the expert services they need. Let's not forget, like in other health areas, damage can be done if people receive poor or inadequate care. https://www.abc.net.au//headspace-failing-austral/11039776

07.01.2022 Can you help us with this? We are calling for volunteers now and will have a meeting early September with those wanting to help. You dont have to live in Melville municipality to help. Contact us at [email protected]

07.01.2022 Looking at information about the Norwegian company having rights to explore for oil in the Great Australian Bight. Terrible! Our Goverments are so out of touch with the need to protect our natural environment and the urgent need to move faster towards renewable energies. Vote on Saturday for climate action and the Independents who will push for it.

07.01.2022 I want to thank all of my team for the generosity of their time, energy and spirit. My volunteers managed to distribute 30,000 pamphlets into letterboxes, helped put up posters, worked with me at shopping centres and helped with pre poll and polling booths. A fantastic effort. My campaign manager Andrea Edmondson developed a terrific Facebook page, the pamphlets, posters and how to vote cards, she oversaw the planning of pamphlet distribution and generally ran the campaign a...longside me. I greatly appreciate her organisational skills and heartfelt support. Tilly Walker, Michelle Bertschi and my son Simon Hausknecht where greatly involved with developing the social media and I thank them all very much. Without all of you non of this would have been possible.

07.01.2022 If we dont start listening to the science on climate change we are heading for environmental and ecological disaster. Take action now, not later.

03.01.2022 PLEASE everyone watch ABC three part program called Fight for Planet A. You can see first 2 parts on ABC Iview. Lets all get active and demand action on climate change.

03.01.2022 Hello Tangney voters and friends. One more sleep til voting day! I hope to see some of you when I travel around the polling booths tomorrow . Say "hi" if you see me. Good voting everyone

03.01.2022 Hi everyone on Facebook! Election day is coming on the 18th and we are putting out a plea for anyone who may be able to help us with handing out How to Vote cards at polling booths. My wonderful volunteers are covering as much as possible, but we still have some empty spots in busy polling places. If you can spare a couple of hours (or more!) please get in touch ASAP and we can meet and give you what you need and talk through the process. Thanking you in advance, Jillian Horton

03.01.2022 If I am elected I will also join forces with the other Independents for action on climate change. Make your vote count on the 18th May. Vote for an Independent. ... #jillianhorton #independentfortangney #tangney

02.01.2022 Hi everyone, Its been a very busy period leading up to the Council elections. I hope you have all voted and encouraged family and friends to do so. If not, postal votes need to be in the post latest by Tuesday. Otherwise you can drop your vote into Council up until 6.00pm next Saturday 19th.

02.01.2022 News of police raids on the ABC for their sources and facial recognition turned on at sports stadiums in Queensland without telling people, is of great concern. Australian citizens appear to be accepting a slippery slope into a decline in democratic freedoms. We should all be very concerned.

01.01.2022 I am at the pre polling station today on Riseley Street in Ardross. Handing out How to vote cards to voters who cant vote on the 18th.
