This complex topic is currently being researched by several groups in the USA, the largest group is looking at the scientific basis of the symptoms. At present, there are no tests, or ability to diagnose this as an actual diagnosis. The current theory is that it is chronic inflammation around the capsule of the implant that leads to capsular contraction and pain.
