21.01.2022 Given the increased number of community transmission in Melbourne, masks must be worn by all staff and patients in our consulting rooms at Epworth Freemasons Hospital. If you are not wearing a mask, it will be provided for you upon entry. To maximise effectiveness, masks must be worn safely and correctly. This is not a substitute for physical distancing, meticulous hand hygiene, getting tested even if mildly symptomatic and most importantly staying at home unless absolutely necessary to go out. If you have concerns about your abnormal menstrual bleeding or pain, please do not delay consulting your local doctor or be referred to a gynaecologist for advice. Conditions requiring timely assessment include: postmenopausal bleeding Severe heavy menstrual bleeding causing anaemia... Thickened endometrial lining or suspected endometrial hyperplasia on pelvic ultrasound High grade abnormal cells on pap test Ovarian cyst causing acute pain Any suspicion of malignancy Inital video consultation can be arranged prompty so further investigations and treatments may be initiated at the same time. 08.01.2022 Epworth Freemasons Hospital has set up a drive through testing centre for our patients having their mandatory COVID-19 swab prior to their elective surgery. We recommend patients do this at least 5 days prior to their surgery to allow adequate time for processing of result. The planned surgery will be deferred without this result. Patients are to self-isolate from the time of testing until they are admitted for their procedure as per DHHS directive. The new centralised patient number to phone to make a pre-operative testing appointment is (03) 9426 0666. The drive through testing site is located in the same building as our office - 124 Grey Street, East Melbourne, Level B1 car park. Opening hours are Monday - Friday 0900hrs-1600hrs. We need to maintain our vigilance, thoroughly follow social distancing and personal hygiene measures, get tested even when mildly symptomatic. Our practice will continue with current arrangement of doing initial consultation via video or phone call. Subsequent face-to-face visit is then arranged when essential examina...tion or procedure need to be performed. This has been working really smoothly and is well received by our patients.
