05.01.2022 Important New Corona Virus Testing Information for Western Australia Covid 19 testing as of 6th June 2020 PCR Testing/ Swab testing ... -this checks for current/acute infection with Covid 19 -fever or recent history of fever without a known source -acute respiratory symptoms Contact your GP or one of the Covid Clinics Serology Testing/Blood Test -this diagnosis past Covid 19 infection -should NOT be requested if person acutely unwell -serology testing <2 wks from symptoms can result in a false negative test -if at LEAST 2 wks have passed since illness and person has had a temp and respiratory symps AND is identified as a close contact of a confirmed case or identified as related to an outbreak or has had international or interstate or cruise ship travel since 01/01/2020 Isolation -all people tested for acute Covid 19 must self isolate until test result received but carers of a dependent do not need to isolate -your GP can help you find accomodation to isolate if needed -people undergoing serology testing do not need to self isolate Testing of travellers in quarantine -specimens should be collected as close to the end of quarantine as possible -if test is negative quarantine can finish after 14 days -if test is positive stay in isolation and await contact from Public Health Dept Testing of asymptomatic patients -these persons are not required to self isolate while awaiting results
