25.01.2022 SHOULD I SWITCH TO A POWERED TOOTHBRUSH? Clinical studies looking at the effect of a powered toothbrush on periodontal disease have shown that use of an electric toothbrush does significantly reduce the rate of progression of those with no/mild or moderate gum disease. Although statistical significance doesn't always equal clinical significance. If you want to find out the best option for YOU, speak to our team when you're next in.

25.01.2022 DENTAL HEALTH WEEK 2020 The focus of this year’s #DHW is on the harm sugar does to oral health. This information is reinforced with three main sugar messages:... Consume no more than 6 teaspoons (24 grams) of free sugar per day as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Choose foods with less than 10 grams of sugar per 100 grams. Look out for hidden sugars when purchasing foods and drinks. You can find out more, and access lots of resources and information here https://www.ada.org.au/Dental-Health-Week-2020/About

22.01.2022 All of the loveliest things - French champagne, chocolates, and flowers - for Kendal’s last day with us yesterday. We will miss Kendal very much as she moves on to full time work. Kendal has developed into an extraordinary dental assistant, as we’re sure our patients will agree, and it has been wonderful to be part of that journey.

19.01.2022 Our whole team is excited to welcome Kendall back part-time! We know our patients are also pleased to see her back in the surgery.

19.01.2022 This year, our practice once again made the Three Best Rated list for Dentists in Wagga Wagga, for 2020. Our team are extremely dedicated to the ongoing oral and overall health of our patients, and reviews such as these are lovely to receive to acknowledge the team's continual hard work.

18.01.2022 What a wonderful and unexpected moment this week... Catching up with Selena Liu, an ex-CSU dental student, and now colleague! To teach, inspire and learn from students is always a highlight of my week. To then see them after their uni days as considered, caring and confident clinicians reinforces this.

17.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW... That 1 in 4 children - aged 5 to 10 - have untreated decay in their baby teeth? Untreated decay can cause pain and lead to infections in the child. This in turn may lead to problems eating, learning, speaking, and playing.

16.01.2022 Always a bittersweet time of my year - farewelling the CSU final year dental students that I have had the pleasure of tutoring. It has been a privilege to travel the very bumpy road that a COVID clinical year has brought them all. They have truly grown and flourished as clinicians and as individuals, despite the uncertainty of these unprecedented times. I so look forward to when we next meet.

14.01.2022 A few weeks back we had a visit from this super star (excuse the pun! ) who brought his own glasses with him to his appointment! He and Anna-Maria bonded over some pretty funky glasses!

14.01.2022 Last week the team undertook our annual day of resuscitation training with John Fahey from Cynergex. It's always a fantastic opportunity to train alongside our colleagues at the OSO Centre, and brainstorm how to best help our patients.

13.01.2022 DENTAL HEALTH WEEK 2020 As tempting as it is to think that everyone is practicing good oral health, the reality is that the oral health of many Australians is not where it should be. Less than 50% of Australians adults have had a dental check-up in the last 12 months. ... 53% of Australians brush their teeth only once-a-day. Nearly 40% never floss or clean between their teeth. 73% of young people (14-18 years) are consuming too much sugar. 47% of adults (18+ years) are consuming too much sugar. 12.01.2022 There's nothing quite like fresh biscuits with a cuppa for morning tea, especially these ones; a special delivery all the way from Sydney last week!

11.01.2022 Are you aware of hidden sugars in your diet? It can show up in everyday foods, and add up quickly.

11.01.2022 Amazing treats from our wonderful and dearly missed Anna-Maria. The name 'Decadence Bakery' is certainly accurate!

09.01.2022 It was a bitter sweet day on Friday, as it was my last tutoring session with six of my CSU students, who will move on to placement away from Wagga for the remainder of their final clinical year. As always it was mixed emotions; I am so happy to have met and worked with them, but equally sad to farewell them. To study and treat patients in such an uncertain and unprecedented time, like the rest of the world, has tested the courage, patience and resilience of them all.... Adelaide, Elle, Qiushi, George, Gen, and Sasha; I will miss your happy faces, and wish you well in the countdown to graduating, and making your mark in the world of dentistry!

08.01.2022 FLOSS FACTS Flossing is an incredibly important part of an oral health routine, so here are some of the fast facts on floss! Not flossing leaves at least 35% of your teeth unprotected and susceptible to plaque.... Flossing is most effective after eating. Flossing removes bacteria that is responsible for teeth issues, gum issues, and even halitosis (bad breath). Flossing every day removes plaque and bacteria, which are both shown to increase the chances of heart disease. See more

08.01.2022 Memories to last a lifetime... Recently our team had the absolute pleasure of visiting a dear friend and colleague Carmel, for a garden viewing and afternoon tea. As well as a garden with over 240 roses blooming to view, we enjoyed some amazing home made cakes and scones, and took home a hessian bag each filled with home made lemonade and fresh farm eggs.... Simply beautiful!

08.01.2022 SUGAR AND THE PANDEMIC Cakes, biscuits and chocolate might be easy solutions to the COVID-19 blues, BUT it's important to remember to minimise sugary treats and protect your teeth during the ongoing pandemic. Increased consumption of sugary treats during periods of isolation has seen rates of tooth decay increase, and oral health issues rise.

07.01.2022 WHAT IS THIS INGREDIENT? Confused by an ingredient name on the back of your toothpaste tube? Let's start with 'ABRASIVE AGENTS' These help to penetrate and remove stained pellicle, and may help to whiten teeth by removing light surface stains.

06.01.2022 We recently had Sophie visit the practice to have her teeth counted. She took a VERY close up look in all the prize bags before making her pick... a LION to go home with her!

05.01.2022 How very, very special it is to receive messages like this from students on placement. It is a wonderful feeling to work with these wonderful young practitioners at the very beginning of their careers.

04.01.2022 We recently has a student come to watch Jenny and I as we operated, who had some lovely words to say following their time with us!

04.01.2022 It has been wonderful to have had Anna-Maria (a dentist from Sydney) spend some time with our team - experiencing life in a rural general dental practice. We were also lucky enough to have her bring freshly baked biscuits each time she came from Sydney
