23.01.2022 The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners is urging patients to talk to their GP if they have concerns about their mental health. Reports have emerg...ed today concerning the significant impact the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown is having on the mental health of Australians. A poll has found that half of all people are feeling isolated and an even greater number suffering stress. RACGP President Dr Harry Nespolon said that GPs are there to help. Professor McGorry’s concerns are certainly well-founded and I completely agree that this pandemic will weigh on many people’s mental health for some time. https://bit.ly/2xq7x6a

21.01.2022 If you were born between 1966 and 1994 you might not be fully vaccinated against measles! You need 2 doses to be covered, so get a free vaccine from your GP. (It's safe to have another dose). Find out more: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//measl/Pages/travellers.aspx
20.01.2022 That’s refreshing to know! Goodness knows we try!
20.01.2022 Lots of hand washing and surface wiping. It’s that time of year!
20.01.2022 Terrible news today with the death of Kate Spade. Being famous and successful does not protect from depression. Remember to ask each other RUOK?
18.01.2022 DOCTOR DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19 BLASTED BY VICTORIAN HEALTH MINISTER So the Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos is flabbergasted that a doctor with a runny... nose would return to work after a trip to the United States. So flabbergasted was she that she told the media that even though his symptoms of Coronavirus were mild, his decision to continue to treat patients is something for the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) to pursue. In other words, threatening his registration. Are you kidding me? Let’s get the story straight. This doctor from Toorak went to the United States, a country that is not on the government’s list of high risk or even moderate risk countries. He got a runny nose and came back to work. As far as my medical colleagues and I can see, his actions did not contravene any government advice, inconsistent though it is from State to State. He did not meet the current criteria for self-isolation or even for COVID-19 testing. But what really flabbergasted me is that not only was the clinic identified, but the doctor was specifically named. Whether he is a doctor or not, this is an unprecedented breach of his right to confidentiality as a patient. Yes, doctors become patients from time to time as well and are entitled to exactly the same confidentiality as any other person. The other issue is that we have to get a clear message about the trigger for health professionals to stay home from work. With this current epidemic and the coming cold and flu season everyone is going to have to be far more aware of taking extra precautions to protect others. Many companies are taking the initiative of requiring employees who have done any international travel to work from home for two weeks. The problem is that the public health messaging to doctors and the public has been a shambles. How about the States and the Commonwealth public health authorities get together and come up with a consistent line of advice for GPs at the front line of this evolving epidemic so that we can make decisions in the best interest of our patients’ health, and for health professionals as well. And while they are at it, set up a centralized Federal version of the CDC in Australia to provide a state of the art single source of scientific-evidence based information and advice. And meanwhile, I hope the doctor with COVID-19 is okay, and makes a full and rapid recovery ...and knows his colleagues have his back. See more
16.01.2022 Don’t forget that although we are in isolation for Covid 19, routine medical problems still arise & it’s important not to ignore them. A colleague in A&E told me they’d seen 2 ruptured appendix as a result of people ignoring the early signs instead of being checked. Don’t ignore the rest of your health or routine things like childhood immunisations, at Coogee Medical Centre we’re still working hard to keep you well, with both Telehealth & face to face consultations when needed. We have social distancing measures in the waiting room as well as a large verandah outside to keep you safe, with frequent sanitising of all surfaces. Call us on 96654519 #gpexperthelp
15.01.2022 Back to work after 2 weeks’ holiday! Haven’t had a holiday for so long I’d almost forgotten how necessary they are! Need to take my own advice & book the next one in straight away so there’s something to look forwards to!
15.01.2022 If you're self-isolating, stay away from others at home. Be in a different room or as far apart as possible. 09.01.2022 Thank you to RetroSpec’d Clothing www.retrospecd.com for the kind donation of PPE made from vintage fabrics. It will seem a shame to launder them as heavily as we’ll need to! As our stock is running low & with more testing on the horizon it is very much appreciated!
