16.01.2022 Our beautiful nursing team at IVFAustralia Greenwich I am beyond sad that we will be losing most of our wonderful nurses, due to the flow-on effect of the government ban on elective surgical procedures (including IVF egg collections). It will definitely not be the same without all of them!! I’m so glad that Felicity is staying- she knows how to make me laugh! But my other 2 nurses will now return to the public hospital system to help out there. I will miss those who a...re leaving, and I hope that they will come back to us once this pandemic is over. 01.01.2022 Social distancing to slow COVID -19 spread The current trajectory shows that a significant number of our population will pick up Coronavirus (COVID-19) at the same time over the coming weeks. If 10-20% of patients need hospital care, there is NO way our hospitals can cope with these numbers- we don’t have enough beds, equipment, or staff. We need to FLATTEN THE CURVE- ie. slow the spread with SOCIAL DISTANCING, for everyone:... Work from home Avoid social gatherings, big groups and events Avoid gyms Keep 1.5m between you and others when outside Avoid school and university Basically, stay at home. This will not be easy- my friends in Hong Kong have been doing this for months now, and it’s inconvenient and frustrating. But this will SLOW the spread of Coronavirus, and give our healthcare system a fighting chance to provide lifesaving care to those who need it. Social distancing will spread cases out across several months, less people will need lifesaving hospital care at the same time, and that will save countless lives. We need to learn from Hong Kong and Singapore who have contained the virus. Starting from Tuesday, I will be going in to work only to perform egg retrievals, embryo transfers, pregnancy scans, and to see patients who urgently need to be seen. All other patient consultations will be done over the phone.
