Most if not all my beloved patients know how much I talk about rinsing our mouth out with water after any food and drinks. There are many benefits to getting water in our mouth: ... More water intake increases our saliva production, and more saliva means more flushing away of the bad bacteria that cause cavities. The more saliva, the more protection for our teeth. Rinsing out with water after food and drinks gets rid of the particles that got stuck on the teeth, such as acid, sugar, or sticky things. Having a sip after coloured food can reduce staining.
