23.01.2022 Progressive, thoughtful, sensible and just right policies.

23.01.2022 Great news. Recent history suggests we should be cautious , but the trajectory is more than encouraging .

22.01.2022 Derek Swanborough declared Div 1 Councillor, more details to follow.Derek Swanborough declared Div 1 Councillor, more details to follow.

20.01.2022 At a time when we are in all lock down, when the global economy is in free fall, when local business is shut down and may never recover, mountain commercial water extractors carry on with their business without a pause for breath. At a time when many of us have lost jobs and are experiencing severe financial stress, they continue to thrive. This is just plain wrong. During the council election, the vast majority of electors raised commercial water extraction for non domestic use as a significant local issue. There has to be a way forward to resolve this.

20.01.2022 After preferences nearly 45% of voters supported a Green voice on the mountain. Significant numbers who had never voted Green, would not normally consider giving our party any preference made that leap. My dearest hope is that this performance lays out the path to a truly Greens division 1 in the near future. I could not have worked any harder to try a bring this over the line, but now is the time to thank all the candidates for a respectful campaign, to more than thank all who entrusted me with their vote, and to congratulate Derek on his success.

19.01.2022 This blog from the British Medical Association in the UK is not the easiest read, but highlights both the inevitability of this pandemic and that of future global catastrophes as a result of climate change. Our council has a responsibility to us all, it cannot abrogate this to a Federal or State level, it's time to declare a climate emergency. Coved-19 is a symptom, drought is a symptom, bush fire is a symptom, it's time do deal with solutions. Local government must ensure that all policy and procedures recognise the seriousness of our changing climate and act to mitigate such changes......and at the same time we must tackle the inertia of our government to take this issue seriously.

19.01.2022 It's time to reconsider who is historically important and who is a stain on our past.

18.01.2022 Given the global response to COV-19 , the International Energy Agency 2020 report provides a pathway that both addresses the climate emergency and provides a realistic and sustainable economic stimulus.

18.01.2022 I do have other interests !!! After weeks of seemingly cloudy skies I took this picture this morning of the Jupiter- Mercury- Saturn conjunction with the lights of the Coast in the background.

17.01.2022 A thousand people socially distanced forced a negotiation for a hug. What could two thousand force them to negotiate? Ten thousand?... We want these men to hug their loved ones every day in freedom. That's the right thing. That's what they want. That's what we demand. Join us and help make it happen.

17.01.2022 Here's how the Senate voted last week. Parliament doesn't sit again until the first week of August, so there won't be an update on how the Senate voted for a l...ittle while. In the mean time I'll be working from my Brisbane electorate office, helping Queenslanders and keeping up the pressure on this heartless government. See more

16.01.2022 Today we remember the 250th anniversary of the arrival of Captain Cook, invasion, massacre, displacement, separation, stolen generations, incarceration , vilification, continuing racism. ..and continued shame It's more than time to address wrong, work for treaty and restitution . Let's commit to right wrong.

15.01.2022 What will probably be a regular reminder, the Greens just elected Amy, a renter who lives in a sharehouse, to Parliament. Along with Berko, they are the only renters in Qld ParliamentWhat will probably be a regular reminder, the Greens just elected Amy, a renter who lives in a sharehouse, to Parliament. 15.01.2022 Amazing so good news from Melborne and Brisbane. This would not have happened if overwhelming public protests had not turned the tide.

15.01.2022 If the Returning Officer keeps to his plan I do not anticipate any update on Div 1 today If the Returning Officer keeps to his plan I do not anticipate any update on Div 1 today

14.01.2022 Here’s how we make a good thing like Medicare even better:

14.01.2022 Let's not forget our vision.

13.01.2022 Social justice is respect for all, in all situations and at all time.

11.01.2022 The hell at Kangaroo Point continues for entirely lawful asylum seekers held in forced detention .

10.01.2022 Further update, the votes have gone backwards again!!

10.01.2022 The situation of legitimate asylum seekers, some detained for over 8 years and now incarcerated at Kangaroo Point is a shame on us all.

10.01.2022 Still waiting for the preferences. ...help! We know we didn't win, but it would be nice to see how close.Still waiting for the preferences. ...help! We know we didn't win, but it would be nice to see how close.

09.01.2022 Our first preference vote is strong, but it's a long way to go. The result will probably be down to preferences. You can follow the results as counting continues today on the link below.

09.01.2022 Change is always possible.

07.01.2022 Part 4 (and final) of my interview.

07.01.2022 Here's how your Senators voted last week... Spoiler alert: it's never too late to join the Greens greens.org.au/qld/join

06.01.2022 There's a better way but this Council is unlikely to deliver. Please ask our councillor to work with Council and declare a climate emergency. Time is running out.

05.01.2022 The final allocation of Preferences should be available to view on ECQ on Tuesday. The final allocation of Preferences should be available to view on ECQ on Tuesday.

05.01.2022 An impressive legacy, thanks Richard.

05.01.2022 Great and sensible policy.

05.01.2022 10 years ago today, Bob Brown introduced the Greens first bill into the Senate to establish a National Integrity Commission. Back then none of the major partie...s thought we needed it. Almost 1 year ago, my bill to establish a National Integrity Commission passed the Senate, but got blocked in the House of Representatives. Last week, the government once again blocked debate in the House of Reps. They will not win. Well keep fighting until we return integrity to politics. Its time to take our democracy back.

05.01.2022 The current position. The official count ( essentially a check on the first) is progressing now and the first preference allocation will be distributed by the end of the day.

04.01.2022 The councillors' count didn't proceed today ...hopefully tomorrow. The mayoral count continues. The councillors' count didn't proceed today ...hopefully tomorrow. The mayoral count continues.

04.01.2022 There have been significant changes in the count today. As predicted, preferences will decide the result, but the possibility of a Greens voice on the mountain is looking less likely. Follow the link for more information.

03.01.2022 Its been 18 months since the Liberals said theyd tackle corruption. Theres been more sightings of bigfoot since then.

02.01.2022 The pub test is indisputable, there must be an independent enquiry.

01.01.2022 To all of us in which a progressive heart beats in our chest we say, thank you America. To all of us in which a progressive heart beats in our chest we say, thank you America.
