02.01.2022 SHOULDER FUNCTION The KB BUP is a great exercise to train Functional Stability of the Shoulder Complex. Whilst a fantastic exercise, it is vital that we first have the requisite MOBILITY in flexion, abduction, external rotation (FABER) at the glenohumeral joint. ... Any Passive Restriction (Joint or Soft Tissue) through the shoulder girdle will compromise our ability to access this range of motion and in turn make this exercise redundant. As with any exercise intervention, appropriate prescription is the difference between a positive vs. negative or nil outcome. When prescribed appropriately the KB BUP is a fantastic tool to integrate function of the scapulothoracic complex as we move through scapular protraction, lateral rotation, posterior tilt and glenohumeral FABER in a co - ordinated fashion to achieve stability in the overhead position. Apply Principles not Methods. Think Function not Exercise.
