25.01.2022 Help!! Athena, Panda, and Fritz need your help for their less fortunate fur friends on the coast A year and a half ago, 9 Oclock at night, while replacing a catheter in a parvo puppy mom (dr.emetia.rescue.vet) and Aunty Dee were treating in isolation, they discussed a dream of affordable healthcare for our less fortunate fur friends. There are so many animals out there, be it shelter, rescue, or animals with owners who have fallen on hard times. All these animals deserv...e top quality care as much as any others. So they hatched the idea of creating a not for profit vet clinic subsidised by rescue work and donations. When they spoke of the whole idea, Mom said: Dee, Ill do this, but I wont compromise care for cost. We must give these animals the top quality care all animals deserve, no cutting corners After months of back and forth mom received a letter to say shes the new Superintendent and they received a hospital licence. A lot of people also spent a lot of time renovating and revamping the old Bateau Bay Vet to their requirements. Now we need your help. They need staff, and they need equipment. We have a huge goal of $65000 but this is to cover a lot of stuff. Surgical equipment, monitoring instruments, a new xray machine, updated in house blood testing, uniforms for staff, and a fully stocked pharmacy. If you can donate in any form please go to: https://central-coast-animal-care-facility.giveeasy.org/urg Every dollar helps. No donation is too small. Thank you for helping us with this. Every animal deserves great healthcare.
24.01.2022 I have thought long and hard about this post Im still not even sure whether Ill post it or not. It has been a rough tumultuous 2 weeks. Last week started with me trying to cut off my thumb on my left finger and having to reschedule so many surgeries because of my sore finger. ... But still I had to soldier on because with all the emergencies unfortunately animals dont take note of the fact that I have an injury that does not allow me to do surgery comfortably and I still had multiple necessary surgeries to perform. From a possible second ex lap in two months on a special patient Bear who likes swallowing things he shouldnt. 2 months ago it was a large piece of a shredded tyre toy stuck in his intestines. This time there was a large pebble. I thought it might pass with hospitalisation, fluids and laxatives. Luckily for everyone he ended up passing the rock stuck in his intestines (like a bullet shot from a gun according to the nurse that walked him). Wednesday we performed a beautiful C-section on a female dog in an emergency with seven healthy puppies, then my next patient being a very sad euthanasia. The week ended with a cesarian where none of the puppies were viable due to 1 dying in uteruro. To end off the Friday an emergency exlap on a dog with a bouncy ball stuck it in its intestines. Last but not least on Saturday a heartbreaking euthanasia of a very special patient after a hard long battle of multiple issues. This week started with the news of our cesarean mumma from the week before having passed away after ripping open her stitches. 2 of the babies also passed due to crush injuries to their vital organs, 1 in my arms. Then there was the late night FaceTime consult with the @CCACF with regards to the dog that almost strangled herself. Luckily she wasnt too badly injured and could easily be stabilised by the amazing Dee under my guidance. Tuesday we had to help poor Gema over the rainbow bridge. Thank you to everyone that donated to the cause. Wednesday we had to help another favourite patient after a long battle with a tumor over the rainbow bridge. There has been good too, but these things take a toll. Veterinary work is hard sometimes extremely hard, sometimes it breaks me. Im one of those people or vets that take it personally when theres nothing else I can do for that patient I want to do more but I know its not gonna make a difference. It just breaks my heart sometimes. Stay safe, keep your pets close, and reach out if you need help. No dog should have to wait for pay day or a later appointment. Our number is 43257636. Were always here to help.

21.01.2022 BEAR THE BLUE STAFFY Bear is a beautiful character that is always smiling when he comes into the practice. Bear unfortunately has a tendency to eat stuff he shouldnt (as most staffys do). Bear came to see us for a sore tummy which ended up in surgery. He had ripped up one of his hard toys at home and swallowed a piece which got stuck in his intestines. Dr Emetia had to perform an emergency abdominal surgery to remove the piece of toy and make sure all of his intestines are ...still healthy. Luckily for Bear none of his intestines were damaged and had to be taken out. Bear spent the night after surgery recovering with our lovely friends at the ARH in West Gosford for over night care and was picked up by Dr Emetia and Warren the following morning. Please make sure that if you have a dog that likes tearing up toys, or eating things they shouldnt that they dont swallow anything that can get stuck in their intestines. If they do get out of sorts or flat or start vomiting bring them in straight away. #wgfamilyvet #dremetiarescuevet
21.01.2022 MISHAs Angels! This is my amazing team of vet nurses that make everything possible. I cannot speak highly enough of each and every one of them. We started off as a team of 5, being myself Dr Emetia, Warren, Shakirra, Ted and Christie. But soon enough we needed more people, which meant Dayna and Morgan joined the team as VNs, and this week weve had our 2 new part time vets Nat and Julia join the team too. Onward and upward. ... Thank you guys for everything you do. #wgfamilyvet #dremetiarescuevet #bestvetnursesever

18.01.2022 We are hoping that we will be all set and ready to go soon .... We are here for the community and will offer affordable vet fees for your furry family members ...... While you are waiting ... here are some tips, just in case your furry friend is not so much of a fan of the vet... Some dogs only go in the car to go to the vets office, so he or she will suspect something is up as soon as you tell him to jump in. To remedy or prevent this, start taking your dog to fun places in the car a park, a new place to walk, a lake, or the beach. You want your dog to associate the car with good stuff, not just the scary stuff (although we are only here for their good - they just don't know it!) Visit the vet office even when nothing is going to happen. Call ahead and ask the vet staff if you can stop by and weigh your dog, or just stop by to say hi and for a treat. We will be happy to help you work on this! If you have more than one dog, take both of them to the vet together, even if one isnt getting anything done. Same as above, it gives your dog a chance to be there without anything scary happening. Practice handling your dog and touching his feet, ears, tail, etc. as soon as you get him as a puppy or adult dog. This will make the process of the vet checking your dog a bit less stressful. Its also a good practice because the more time you spend checking your dog, the more likely you will notice any new lumps or bumps. We look forward to seeing you all as soon as the doors are open! Look how happy Max is to see our amazing vet Dr. Emetia :)

15.01.2022 THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! This is why we do it. Without the help from all of you wonderful people, especially those who donated. Here is her story!!!!... Tuesday morning we received a call. There was a patient that needed emergency care, the owner was not financially able to pay for her care. Immediately I sprang into action and ensured that the owner knew that we would do the emergency care and surgery to save her life. And to not put her down. We worked out a plan, decided to donate our time, and save a life. Starlas owner thought she was in heat. But she had actually developed a life threatening infection in her uterus. This infection could only be treated by surgically removing the infected body part to save her life. That meant an emergency hysterectomy. By the time Starla had surgery she had septic shock, kidney infection and a UTI on top, all coming from the infected uterus. After removing a large infected uterus, Starla has recovered well from her surgery, but still has a long road ahead recovering from the backlash of this problem. #wgfamilyvet #dremetiarescuevet #savingdogslives Thanks to all of you, whether by financial support, and the immense influx of well wishes, we could save this darling girls life. Once again. THANK YOU!

10.01.2022 Met a the best , friendliest boxer! @sasha.the.crazy.boxer Always Glad to help!
07.01.2022 Food allergies. Mr Jojo came to us from a rescue with a very crusty face, ears, genitalia and belly. We quickly figured out it was a food allergy. Because of the severity of his allergy he lost all his hair and was very bald. He also developed a very serious complication where he didn’t want to eat for quite a few days because he was so depressed from his skin issue that he went into acute liver failure which we treated with lots of medication, fluids and love. While he was... in the hospital we all fell in love, especially our nurse Dayna who adopted him. And look at him now. After a very long road of recovery he is a happy healthy boy but he has to be on a very strict diet. If he eats anything other than his prescribed food his skin breaks out again, he gets an ear infection or gets diarrhoea. Allergies are unfortunately never really cured and we can only manage the pets exposure plus the symptoms. If you are concerned that your pet may have any allergies, give the practice a call. We can help you diagnose the reason and develop a proper management plan together.

05.01.2022 Ive been telling people about Dog Doughnut beds that are meant to help for calming and anxiety. So I decided I should try one for my Doona thief aka Athena and I popped down to Petbarn in West Gosford to get one. I must say Im impressed. Its like a squishy warm hug, and slept in her own bed all night. Only tried to climb into ours once, and that was after my alarm went off at 5. Definitely recommending this highly for our anxious fur friends that may have some anxiety issues. #dremetiarescuevet #wgfamilvet #puppynaps #athenarescuepup #pets
05.01.2022 Tonight I am so thankful for those around me. Today was a tough day at work. Unfortunately sometimes we try as hard as we possibly can and we still don’t save that precious life. Thank you to all my amazing staff who rallied around our little kitten. You all did an amazing job. ... I am also so thankful for the love I’m getting tonight. It’s as if my pets know. Athena came and snuggled up with me on the couch while I was contemplating what to write. Then Fritzy came and held my arm, he’s never done this before. Hold your furbabies tight tonight. They’re special.
