21.01.2022 Never quite know what fabric to choose for your next design? Want to know about the different types of fabric out there? Coming from a fabric background I thought it would be fun to introduce a regular feature of some of the beautiful fabrics I have in my stash and tell you some useful info and tips about them like this beautiful Italian cotton which has a weave called a herringbone twill based on how it is woven with the diagonal thread strokes. Its a fine lighter weight cot...ton and with a slight sheen (polished cotton) the light really highlights the weave. This fabric is perfect for classic cut men, women’s and children’s shirts, baby shirt or bloomers for special occasions and more. 11.01.2022 An excellent fit (custom fitted blocks) and the right type of fabric for a style contributes at least 90% of success in making clothes. If you get these right, sewing it up is the easy part even if you are a novice sewer. Mulling over what I might make with this beautiful silk georgette fabric. It gathers and bunches beautifully but it wouldn’t be ideal for a super tight fitting garment as its too delicate to put under strain. Loose and floaty. We find with stretch sewing each fabric is individual in its stretchiness so fitting and adjusting it in as needed is always part of it.
