19.01.2022 Today is R U OK day, which is a day that has special meaning for me. Last year I shared my experience with a narcissistic sociopath, how the abuse affected me and how important it is to ask R U OK? Several clients reached out to share their similar experiences and I want those people to know how much less alone it made me feel at the time. I shared my experience because I am passionate about normalising conversations around mental health. Mental health impacts everything. No ...one has an issue talking about a broken leg or the pain in their back, but saying you are struggling mentally or emotionally carries such a stigma that it can compel you to silence. This year, I want to talk about that silence. One of the most positive outcomes of the COVID-19 situation is the unprecedented focus it has brought upon mental health. There has never been a time where it has been more OK, to say you're not OK. There are so many events throughout our lives that impact our mental wellbeing, but what is most devastating to me is when wellbeing is destroyed by a human being abusing another. Psychological and emotional abuse is covert and insidious. It can go unnoticed for long periods because there's no one-step punch that allows the victim to see a clear line crossed... and there's no black eye to prove the damage. We often look at all types of abusive relationships and question why someone put up with that behaviour. We look at victims and can’t understand why they didn’t just leave or stop the person who was being abusive... But abusers wear many truly believable masks - ones of kindness, virtue and benevolence. And sometimes, the only person who sees behind that mask, is you... and by the time you see it, the damage is often too great to allow you to work out what's going on. Most of us know about the red flags that someone is an abuser, and this post is not to demonise those people. Hurt people, hurt people. What I would like to share this year is a request for anyone who needs to, to ask THEMSELVES R U OK? Abuse changes the brain literally. Ending the perpetuation of abuse and the resulting impact on mental and emotional wellbeing starts with being able to ask yourself the hard questions and to listen to your truthful answer. End your own silence. Trust the Signs, Trust your Gut, and ask yourself...R U OK? If you or someone you know is struggling with a situation like this, or any other mental health issue, please reach out to a clinically trained professional. And if you're reading this and you know this is you... please don’t stay silent. You are not crazy, you are not alone and you deserve better.xx

13.01.2022 I always get asked by clients if I make my own birthday cakes... definitely not! Every year, for as long as I can remember, I've had this Italian Continental cake for my birthday, with my brother and I fighting to cut the smallest possible slices for the guests so we can eat the rest the next day ourselves We all tend to reflect on our birthdays and this time last year covid had just started affecting our lives. What a year it has been!! So this year called for a special ...celebration... an amazing long weekend on the central coast filled with fun, laughter, a sunrise meditation on Terrigal beach and an incredible fine dining experience with this awesome mango eton mess dessert! Thank you to all my wonderful clients for navigating the uncertainty of the last 12 months with me as restrictions and events seemed to change by the hour at times. I know it has been so hard to plan anything that sticks! It's so great to see we are able to start having larger events and gathering together in person again. Can't wait for the year ahead! 38 feels great
