24.01.2022 Lord take my life and let me be your presence in the world. Let my hands be your hands to lift up support and heal. Let my eyes be your eyes... radiating hope and love though I be without hope feel helpless to act or pray. Let my forgiving face draw to you all I meet on the way. Let my whole being say yes to everything you have made. And when you call me home, let Sister Death find me open and at peace in your embrace. Fr Murray Bodo OFM Gathering Shards: A Franciscan Life

23.01.2022 This week as we prepare to farewell my beautiful mum, these words soothe my soul... my prayer is to carry them with me....

22.01.2022 Celebrating the Feast of St Ignatius of Loyola with Bob (because Iggy is his favourite). The soldier who laid down his sword and handed everything over to God, who wrote the spiritual exercises which continue to have a profound impact upon spiritual direction around the world..... who reportedly had a love of St Francis (just had to get that in there) "Love is shown more in deeds than in words" Photos of Bob and Iggy in Iggy's house in Rome; and the special moment each day in the Church when it is filled with music and the painting above Ignatius's body disappears to reveal a splendid statue.... death and resurrection.

22.01.2022 Today would have been our first day in Assisi on Pilgrimage, visiting Francis’ childhood home at the Chiesa Nuova and then heading up the mountain to the hermitage at the Carceri. Hopefully it will come at some time in the future. Stay tuned...

19.01.2022 The tiny Portiuncula chapel Francis restored, which sits in the midst of the huge basilica on the plain below Assisi is one of my favourite places on earth. It is rich with spirit and stone walls smoothed by the hands of the faithful and seekers over 800 years of pilgrimage

17.01.2022 Still a few places left if you are interested. Final numbers needed by Friday 7

15.01.2022 Simplicity is all about spirit.....

13.01.2022 I’ve begun advertising for the December Women’s retreat today. Because numbers are limited due to COVID restrictions I have made an initial invitation to those on my regular mailing list. If there are spaces left next week I will post to this page and parishes...... Hoping to make a second offering in January for those who miss out.

13.01.2022 Good Shepherd, You have a wild and crazy sheep in love with thorns and brambles. But please don't get tired of looking for me! I know You won't. For you have found me. All I have to do is stay found. What I need the most of all is the grace to really accept God as He gives Himself to me in every situation. Thomas Merton... A Book of Hours See more

13.01.2022 What a wonderful was to remember, to honour a life, to leave a legacy of remembrance.......

08.01.2022 A reminder to look for and be grateful for the little things......

08.01.2022 Bob gets a look in two weeks in a row. St John Vianney, Patron saint of parish priests. We visited his parish church in France two years ago. He lies there in corrupt and his home next door is open for visits. Bob formed a deep connection with this John in recent times. A priest in a little village, who faithfully preached and served his people for 40 years, even through illness. Some grumbled about him, others came from miles away to learn from Him and be prayed for by Him. Thank you God for faithful servants

05.01.2022 The movement of stillness. Have you noticed the movement that takes place when we allow our being to enter into stillness and silence? A life-giving flow emanates from the Source of all Being. ... How long we wait, with minds as quiet as time. Merton

03.01.2022 One of my favourite poems chosen to remember the author’s birthday

03.01.2022 11 August - today is the Feast day of St Clare of Assisi. She is probably my all-time favourite (and you thought it was Francis). Clare's life, ministry and ongoing contribution have been largely overshadowed by Francis. She is often seen merely as a female follower of Francis, or the feminine counterpart to his masculine spirituality... but she is soooo much more. She left everything to serve God in the Franciscan tradition, ended up spending most of her life cloistered at S...an Damiano (way worse places in the world to be), was the first woman to write Rule of Life for women (go figure), refused to move within the city walls for her safety and then fought off invaders by holding the eucharist before them, and prayed and prayed and prayed. Her letters to Agnes of Prague tell us much of her prayer life and it move me so very deeply. They are evocative of the lover in Song of Songs. She had a heart which was filled with love for God, and it enabled her to see God in everyone around her. Today, I hold her close and give thanks for her enduring impact. May learn to gaze, consider, contemplate and imitate as Clare did. "Place your mind before the mirror of eternity! Place your soul in the brilliance of glory! Pace your heart in the figure of the divine substance And, through contemplation, Transform your entire being into the image Of the godhead itself, So that you too may feel what friends feel In tasting the hidden sweetness That, from the beginning, God Himself has reserved for His lovers. ..May you totally love Him Who gave Himself for your love At Whose beauty the sun and the moon marvel Whose rewards and their uniqueness and grandeur have no limits'. St Clare of Assisi, Third Letter to Agnes of Prague
