09.01.2022 SECTIONAL REPAIR 525MM LINER The short liner repair system is a ‘no-dig’ application suitable for sectional repair of defective sewer pipes. A renovation packer carrying resin-based fibreglass matting is pushed or pulled to the point of repair, of which the exact position is determined beforehand by CCTV inspection. Once the correct position is reached, the packer is inflated causing the packer to expand, impregnating the fibreglass mat to the host pipe. A permanent bond between the fibreglass mat and the host pipe wall is created. After the resin cures, the packer is deflated and removed from the pipe. The repair covers the full area of the compromised pipe section without obstructing the service flow. This ‘pipe-in-pipe’ system becomes integrated with the host pipe and fully meets the hydraulic requirements.

09.01.2022 ROBOTIC CUTTING DTS use a large robotic cutter to remove hard deposits such as concrete and grout in lines. It can also remove steel bars, trim rubber rings and remove organic obstructions such as large tree root intrusions. With a 220m capacity, we provide a unique service giving us the edge over our competitors. The images below show a typical concrete deposit in a line. As you can see in the second image, the cutting head at work grinding away the deposit with a diamond milling head.

08.01.2022 DTS investment in 'Quick Lock' drainage rehabilitation system DTS has expanded our trenchless rehabilitation services to include the Quick-Lock mechanical liner rehabilitation system. The Quick-Lock system seals and stabilizes damaged pipes without use of chemicals and is suitable for all pipe materials and an extensive range of applications including sewer, stormwater and drinking water systems and those requiring corrosion, heat, pollutant and acid resistance. The Quick-L...ock system can be utilized in pressure pipes with internal pressure of up to 10 bar. Portability means limited access such as that found in disposal sites, rail or tunnel drainage is not a problem. The Quick-Lock sleeve is installed in the existing pipe with a packer and expanded with a compressor. The locking system ensures that the sleeve stays permanently in position. The sleeve has its own static capability and absorbs natural tectonic movement of the pipes. Sleeves can be interconnected to form a continuous sealed pipe. The Quick-Lock system is similar in cost to traditional fibreglass patching and lining but with significantly faster installation. It is advantageous when traffic control and road closures are required, or when sewer systems are offline or bypassed.

07.01.2022 Can we remove concrete from lines? Hmmmm....ask Zac.

06.01.2022 Safety and Training DrainTech Solutions commenced operations in 1993 primarily as a provider of high pressure drain cleaning, with one jetting truck and operator. Today, DTS has a range of service vehicles including Jet Trucks, Vacuum Units and CCTV service vehicles and a crew comprised of Tradesman Plumbers and operators who specialise in drain rehabilitation. As our crew and capabilities have expanded, we introduced a formal training and assessment program to complement o...ur existing training and skill set, with an emphasis on the risks of working with high pressure water. We engaged Asset Training to customise a program for our field staff in MSMSS00004 Operate a high-pressure water jetting system and MSMSS00004 Operate a vacuum loading system. The High Pressure Water Jetting Operator certificate and Operate a Vacuum Loading certificate covers training for personnel experienced in high pressure water jetting but requiring a more in-depth knowledge of high pressure water jetting systems, pumps, engines, safe equipment operation, managing worksites, safe work practices and associated law, organising work permits, reading and interpreting plans/drawings and emergency and rescue practices. As a result, our operators are equipped with the necessary knowledge to supervise a High-Pressure Water Jetting and Vacuum Loading projects and be responsible for a crew of HPWJ and Vacuum Loading Workers. DTS has an ongoing commitment to safety, evidenced by our ISO 45001 accreditation. We continually monitor, plan and evaluate our training requirements. We believe that training is one of the keys to creating a culture of safety in the workplace and are proud of our commitment to our staff and customers.

03.01.2022 Impact cutting - A powerful and effective drain rehabilitation solution Our technology is the point of difference between us and our competitors. State of the art impact and robotic cutting technology, including diamond milling heads and blades, and hydro-demolition nozzles provide an outstanding solution to remove mineral materials such as concrete and grout deposits, steel bars and trim rubber rings and remove organic obstructions such as large tree root intrusions from lar...ge diameter pipes. Our purpose-built system ensures both capability and productivity for our customers. A recent job on a busy highway saw DTS use a combination of an impact cutter driven by a recycling unit at 330 litres per minute to remove grout deposits from existing stormwater drainage in transport infrastructure. This combination ensured excellent productivity as the line was plugged downstream and water recycled allowing continuous operation and no downtime for emptying the vacuum unit. Our impact and robotic cutters provide a multi-functional expandable system that can complete a range of services not limited to cutting with services include top-hat lining, sectional repair lining and ultra-high pressure water cutting which is used to remove concrete deposits and failed liners. Impact cutting is a powerful and effective drain rehabilitation solution.
