22.01.2022 What is that ‘cracking’ sound with an adjustment? A question I get asked A LOT! . Pressure builds up in a joint when it’s fixated (not moving properly). This is as a result of small pockets of air and sometimes fluid that have built up. When we get movement in that joint with an adjustment, the pressure is released and you may or may not hear what sounds like a ‘crack’ . Note: Not every adjustment needs to make a noise, it’s about getting the joint functioning properly and getting proprioception input into the nervous system

12.01.2022 If you find it hard to calm your nerves, switch off your mind and prepare your body for a peaceful night sleep, this may help . Put 2-3 drops of lavender oil in a diffuser next to your bed, switch it on just before you hop into bed and leave it on a timer for at least one hour. I find it’s a great way to relax, especially after a busy day . If you don’t like lavender you can use another oil of choice. Lavender is great though, as it has calming properties ... . A cup of chamomile or peppermint tea just before bed is another good tip for a restful night, as its calming for your tummy . . . Tip: having a hot bath or shower with a few drops of lavender oil before bed can also help . . #sleep #restfulsleep #sleepbetter #lavender #sleeptip #diffuser #sleepwell #goodsleep #chiro #chiropractic #chiropractor #chiropracticcare #backpain #doctor #preventativecare #spinalhealth #prevention #healthcare #melbournechiropractor #health #healthy #wellness #spine #doctorofchiropractic #lyndhurst #wellbeing #spinalhealth #womeninchiropractic #melbournebusinesswomen #melbournesmallbusiness See more

05.01.2022 MELBOURNE LOCKDOWN . Living in Victoria has been challenging these last few weeks with stage 4 lockdown. Mentally and emotionally. Finding motivation to be physically active, keep a balanced diet and make healthier choices has been difficult for a lot of us. In these uncertain times remember: . It’s ok to not feel like your usual self... . It’s ok if you’ve put on weight in lockdown . It’s ok to cry for no reason . It’s ok if you haven’t kept up your exercise routine . It’s ok to have waves of different emotions . It’s ok to not be ok . This is not an ‘I’ situation, this is a ‘WE’ situation. We are all going through this together and this is a collective feeling. You are not alone and you are not abnormal for feeling like this . Here are some simple strategies you can implement day to day to help support mental and emotional wellbeing in times of uncertainty . Come back to your breathing. Inhaling for 4-5 counts, hold 4-5 counts, exhale 4-5 counts. It sounds simple but it’s very powerful. In times like this, our breathing calms down the stress response and helps us think clearly. Do this as many times as you need to during the day . Find new healthy recipes to try . Put on your runners without thinking about it and move your body for 30-60 minutes. Don’t look for motivation or a reason. Just do it without thinking . Stay connected by calling/FaceTiming family and friends regularly . Get outside for a daily walk . . At the end of the day we’re going to go through these waves of different emotions. Keep coming back to your breath and what you can control. Acknowledge that you have a choice of how you show up. Find the time for joy, music, dance or whatever it is that makes you feel good. We don’t know what’s going to happen and we don’t have the answers. But we need to make these powerful choices. Put your well-being first. We may not know what is going to happen but we are all in this together . If you’re really struggling you can call lifeline anytime of the day on 13 11 14 . Stay strong guys, we got this See more

05.01.2022 HEALING IS NOT LINEAR . During the healing process, it’s normal to feel both progression and regression. Recovery is full of ups and downs. This is because there is a huge number of variables to each individuals healing/recovery process including: . How acute or chronic the condition is... . Compliance to treatment and lifestyle advice . Previous traumas . Comorbidities (additional health conditions) . Occupation . Foods/drinks regularly consumed . Age . And this is just to name a few . It’s the perseverance and adherence to advice and treatment through the healing process that will ultimately lead you toward a happier and healthier life See more
