16.01.2022 Fresh, raw, non-heat treated honey d direct from the apiary. Right here in inner-city Melbourne. There are 20 hives located in suburban yards encouraging bees & polination... Without the bees, there's NO flowers, fruits, etc. Unfortunately due to development, bees lose their natural environment & do not have anywhere to set up hives. ... Suburban hives are not just a good idea, but a very important concept. Go bees. I love the honesty system. 16.01.2022 Amazingly delicious gift dropped off today from @smoothme.sfb & @mpeate (you know me too well). This is the nourish breakfast box containing: - an acai & rawnola bowl - a PB & cacao almond milk smoothie... - a fresh fruit cup - wholegrain bread with smashed avo, homemade PB & jam & butter - nuts & coconut - a muffin - a hot drink (I have avocado coffee?) Quite possibly the best acai bowl Ive ever had... and that's huge considering I worked for Australia's first functional food company to bring Acai to Australia (& Ive never been keen on the excess sugary-ness). So much food of high quality - needs a few days to consume it for me. Well presented. Enjoyable & delicious. Nutritious too. This gets the @dranneline . Highly recommend. Thank you!

14.01.2022 So... just thought I'd share this... A paint-by-numbers picture from @kate.and.son.decor For everyone else, this is a way to pass time during covid. For me - a way to gain fine motor skills. Truth is my hand writing is absolutely abysmal from nerve damage running down from my shoulder.... It's hard for me to write neatly... I've been doing dot-to-dots, practicing writing letters like 7 year olds... And now this. I've sat looking at it since Saturday - nervous because of the details & my lack of fine motor skills... No pressure. This is going to be slowest of slow. But right now, I'm really grateful to be able to do this. No surgery, no dilatation... just rehab & prayers. 13.01.2022 Went for a walk. Was given a tub of honey from a local honey harvester. Apparently there are 21 hives scattered around Moonee Valley in different backgrounds. How lovely! But what's lovely is the little honey stand - pick a tub & put the money in the bucket. 10.01.2022 How to plate up your meals with nutrition in mind. 1. Plate eating area should ideally be 12-15cm, not a platter. 2. Add some raw veggies (1/4 plate) - heat destroys vitamin C&B & decreases some polyphenols. 3. Add some cooked veggies (1/4 plate) - steamed/roasted/baked/stir-fried... just not boiled ideally - heat softens dietary fibre & makes it easier for certain nutrients to be released from the veggie cells for absorption. 4. Add some carbs/starchy veggies (I have small s...weet potato sticks & corn) - other examples could be potato, rice, wholegrain bread, pasta. 5. Add protein-rich food (I have skinless roast chicken) - tofu, eggs, beans, fish, shell-fish, animal-meats. 6. Add a condiments sparingly AND <1tsp of a good quality fat like olive oil or avocado oil (I have 1/2 tsp butter). 04.01.2022 2 hours of rehab. An hour of getting lost on public transport & walking. An afternoon of writing. I dont really know what I feel like eating, and my arm/shoulder/neck are feeling a bit inflamed = no chopping or stirring. ... And I have a lot of writing to do... Graze plate. Usually I'd use vita-wheat crackers, but I thought I'd finish the ritz snack packd I got in hospital. Ok, so we have: Carbs Wholegrain seeded cob - 1 slice toasted with a little butter. 5 ritz crackers Protein & dairy Cheddar cheese cubes 2 tblsp hommus Vegetables 1 purple carrot julienned 1/4 large red capsicum in striped 1/2 cup raw broccoli florets 1/8 cup gherkins Fruit 1 kiwi fruit 1/3 cup strawberries 1/3 sliced apple Treat ... and 2 small pieces of walnut hedgehog slice. Lunch & dinner covered. Eat colour. You have all your bases covered.
