25.01.2022 Rhinovirus is currently going around town, giving those infected flu-like symptoms. If you’re concerned about your cough, sore throat or runny nose, we’re here for you. Dr Ash is available to help weekdays at Rangeside Medical Centre, and is part of the Australian Sentinel Practices Research Network (ASPREN), a network of reporters on Influenza like illnesses seen in general practice. http://www.aspren.com.au

24.01.2022 We are now coming to the middle of autumn, when there are noticeable changes of weather. With that comes allergies, asthma and another round of colds. Unfortunately, these don’t take a back seat just because coronavirus is lurking. See Dr Ash if you need assistance with these. But remember, if you have a flu like illness in the context of being in contact with any known cases of coronavirus in the last 2 weeks, you should proceed to the Baillie Henderson hospital grounds for testing.

24.01.2022 There is no need to fear COVID-19. We are taking all precautions.

20.01.2022 Believe it or not, most medical services are not being overrun by sick patients. On the contrary, general practices have seen a significant downturn in the number of patients seen in clinic. So don’t put off your regular medical needs. Call in. It’s still business as usual at Rangeside medical.

15.01.2022 A tribute to all the current and former service members for the defence of our country, and the freedoms we enjoy as a result of your service, even though it may be temporarily affected by COVID-19. Lest we forget.

14.01.2022 The current state of play. Stay safe. Practice good hygiene. Be informed, not alarmed.

09.01.2022 Depression and anxiety feed off social distancing and isolation. Remember to care for yourself as well as your loved ones. If you’re struggling with your mental health, know that you can call into the clinic to get it back in order.

08.01.2022 You don't need to avoid seeing the GP because of coronavirus. Your health problems need to be addressed, and can be safely taken care of now.

05.01.2022 Effective today, patients can book in for their mental health care plans (to access funded psychology visits) as well as GP management plans (to get funded allied health visits) via telephone consultation. This means that if you are concerned about coming to the surgery but would benefit from psychological treatment of depression/anxiety, or need access to occupational therapy, podiatry or a diabetes educator, you can still book in for a care plan. Just let the receptionist know that you would like to have this done by phone. Book in with Dr Ash on (07) 4638 0655. Spread the word. Dr Ash is available Mon-Fri at Rangeside Medical Centre (The Range Shopping Centre).

04.01.2022 General practices are generally able to redirect potential COVID-19 cases to official testing centres rather than risk exposing other patients in the waiting room to COVID-19. So if you have an acute medical problem, don’t put off having it seen to out of fear of contracting the virus. Effective hand washing goes a long way in preventing infections, particularly when done after handling surfaces that others have come in contact with. General practices and hospitals do not ne...ed to be avoided when you actually need to seek medical attention. We know that we need to practice social distancing, so much of our social activities have to take a back seat for the moment, but our common sense doesn’t have to follow suit.

01.01.2022 There is a lot of interest in the flu vaccine this year, amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. So too the pneumococcal vaccine. These do not protect against COVID-19, nor its complications, and there are eligibility criteria for having these funded by the government. Check in with Dr Ash on (07) 4638 0655 to see what vaccines are available and how you can get them.
