24.01.2022 It's been quite a while since I posted anything. It has taken me a while to find my feet in my new location. Lately though I have been hard at it in my trusty little studio working on a new body of work. I decided to 'test the water' at the 150th Warwick Show at the weekend and enter into the Contrasts Art Show. I enjoy using my pastels and one of my favourite subjects is the humble pear. Put them both together and I had a piece that I was very happy with. I entered this artw...ork and another acrylic scene that I have also recently been slapping paint around around on. So.... I received a Commended for my entry 'River Crossing' and the Roulston Builders Prize for 'Dancing Pears'. Thank you to these kind sponsors for this I might add. I have been bouyed up by this acknowledgment and the wheels are burning rubber once again. Only, have to stamp on the brakes in a week's time as I am off to 'artists paradise'. Yes Venice and Prague to name but a few are on the " bucket list" and inspiration awaits! I've attached my winning entries here plus a few newbies on the block. And I will endeavour to keep all posted on what I am 'Drawing in the Shed' more diligently on my return. Ciao ... for now. See more

24.01.2022 I love the abnormal of which I feel most of the time. The wilted, bruised and misshapen fruit and veg always have my respect. They often go home with me.

22.01.2022 I have been experimenting with coloured pencil sketching of late. This is my effort and I am hooked! I'll definitely be doing more of these. I love the waxy layers the Prismacolor pencils produce. I have had this framed, and now intend to keep up the momentum.

21.01.2022 Well since I posted last It has been series of webinars about gallery "readiness" ( how to market oneself to Galleries) and the process one goes through if they want representation by a gallery. It has been very interesting but a little ( a lot, actually ) daunting ! I have had one on one interviews with a Curator as well as Gallery representatives in preparation for the grand finale in April, that being a group exhibition at the Judith Wright gallery of Contemporary Art, In ...Brisbane in April. I got to spend three days at Annabelle and Stephen Tully's Artist Retreat at Bunginderry near Quilpie as part of this venture and had a marvellous time. They are wonderful hosts and us girls were thoroughly spoilt with beautiful home cooked meals prepared for us while the most strenuous activity we indulged in was to poke around seeking out the fabulous sites for painting and photographing. Such a hard life ! I met eight interesting, like minded women whom I networked and interacted with throughout the weekend, swapping stories and sharing ideas. It was most enjoyable. The eight or us are from such diverse backgrounds that I have no doubt we will as a group, create a most scintillating display for our city friends to view. The only contact the eight of us have had since then is by email and Facebook. We won't see each other again until we meet in Brisbane on the 27th of pf April to hang our art. We won't even have seen each other's artwork or photos until then. Such is the way when living West of the Divide. Even though we face the distance dilemma, it is never the way with the Western people to not have a way of making the most of a situation. Nothing is impossible and it has never been more clear to me than now how true this really is. Folks, I will keep you posted as the time gets closer. Maybe some of my Facebook friends living in Brisvegas might have the opportunity of catching the Exhibition while it runs for the couple of weeks. Give me a hello if you want me to send you an invitation as we will have these sent to us soon for distribution. For now I must keep on painting. Time is of the essence! Someone once said... "It's your attitude , not your aptitude, that ultimately determines your altitude!"

19.01.2022 A very big thank you to all those who have 'liked' my Page. I apologize for not posting content as often as I would like to have, however being a little long in the tooth for social media activity might hold some credit. I am far more at home in my studio among a friendly mess of paint than struggling with brain malfunction at the hands of the computer. Thank you again very much as it means a great deal to me! This Sunday, the 22nd April, I will be joining with some very tale...nted artists at the Annual Killarney Picnic Day, to be held in the beautiful grounds of the property 'Melrose'. I will have some new work there at my stall for display and for those of you who wish to purchase. I look forward to seeing you there and sharing the experience together. So.... see you there folks ( If this post appears three times on the thread it's because I've had three attempts at applying it!!! I have absolutely no idea where to write ..... told you I wasn't good at this!! See more

17.01.2022 Well our 'Way Out West' Opening night was a great success! We knocked our city friends' socks off, just quietly!! It was hard yakka hanging our art in the room Flying Arts had reserved for us at the Judith Wright Centre and Ben was just fantastic helping us arrange our work beautifully. Our Project Curator, Susan Ostling, was there through the entire day for support and direction. There was an air of excitement the whole day and the final result was nothing short of stunning,a...lthough we had to wait till the next evening to see this phenomenon. We were promised a very special experience and that was what we got!!! The black walls in this Gallery made our artwork appear to pop off the walls and hover magically in the air.It truly was awesome to say the least !! The party following the opening and speeches was awesome too!! Smiles of admiration abounded.! After hanging for further viewing for two weeks, the Exhibition now heads to Tambo and is officially opened there on Sunday,7th of June at 12 noon. The Exhibition will tour Qld for about twelve months. I encourage you to visit the Exhibition if it comes to a Gallery near you.We have enjoyed representing our beloved outback regions and would dearly like nothing better than to share our passion with you. 16.01.2022 FOUND !!!....thanks so much everyone who shared my post, messaged me, made enquiries and phone calls on our behalf and talked with the "big feller" up above. We were happily reunited with Panda earlier tonight and now hope to get some much needed sleep. It's been a long 24 hours !

14.01.2022 All ready for Killarney Picnic Basket Day.These Souvenir post cards will be available for purchase as well as my framed original watercolour that the cards have been produced from. We can be found at the artesans area in the lovely grounds of Melrose Station this Sunday 7th April between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

12.01.2022 Another perfect day for the annual Killarney Picnic Basket Day and a relaxing day for all who attended. I had a lovely day joining with other artisans, languishing with my brushes and chatting with people as they passed by. Congratulations to the Committee and their band of volunteers for another mighty job well done! Thank you for including me in your event. It’s a darned nice feeling to be able to take part and see the generosity of our Community come to the fore to raise money for a cause that is close to my heart. Livin and the dedication shown by the people who believe in this charity would know that funds raised are essential for their work to be able to carry on. Let’s live life to the fullest shall we? Yes!

10.01.2022 'A Synopsis Of The 1891 Shearers Strike' This is the artwork I entered for the Exhibition for Barcaldine's Tree Of Knowledge Festival recently.

08.01.2022 Well my introduction to The Annual Killarney Picnic Day was a nice relaxing way in which to get my name out in the area down here. Nothing hard about basking in beautiful warm sunlight, making leisurely brush strokes while chatting to people and watching kiddies running about in a carefree fashion on a thick green carpet of grass. Full marks to the Gardners at Melrose who must have been at it 24 hours a day in the lead up to have the grounds looking so stunning for the day. ...Anyway, in the weeks since then my studio has been a little , no a lot!!! neglected!! Also I haven't yet honoured my promise to some people of a peek at some of my latest works so here they are. These are original works and they are surrounded by a white mat and backed onto thick card so that all you have to do is pop them in a frame of your choice. They come enclosed in a clear cellaphane sleeve which will protect them in transit. If you would like to purchase any of these please pm me. These works have an element of pallet knife te chnique used in them. I have always been interested in this method of applying acrylics but instead of my usual canvas or board in this case I have chosen to use 300gsm Arches watercolour paper. Similarly, if you would like something special for your wall and one of these doesn't cut the mustard, pm me your thoughts and ideas. and I would be happy to create a 'one of' for you. Cheers to all till next time. See more

07.01.2022 How about that.... my bro asked me months back to do a painting of "water with movement" for him. He gave me a very bad picture to give me an idea of what he was thinking at the time. I considered the request but in the end declined for a number of reasons. Anyhow, to cut a long story short, I did in deed end up tackling the original project and enjoyed creating this artwork immensely. Had the grand unveiling over the weekend amid a lively family get together and he is rapped...!! How nice it feels when I am lucky enough to see the initial responses by all present when the curtain is finally drawn, especially the person who counts the most...the respective client paying for the artwork. ... though, in this case a loving brother who would hopefully have forgiven any flaws and said " it's good Sis, really whild bear hugging me to death!!.... and pouring me another wine and himself a.... stiff scotch!!) The long and the short of it.... or moral to this story is ... when you are lacking confidence in your own ability to do something, believe in yourself and do it anyway!! "Sometimes you have to be in the dark to see the stars " See more

06.01.2022 Last year I was asked to join with local Artesians at the annual Killarney Picnic Day. Nervously I set up and began to apply paint to the blank canvas before me. Over the next six hours the paint did go on occasionally but motormouth me found my nervousness abating as people came up to chat and watch the painting progress. It turned out to be a fantastic experience and one I have been fortunate enough to have been asked to do again next Saturday 7th of April when visitors fro...m far and wide will again descend upon the beautiful grounds of Melrose Station for this annual event. Here I have posted the before and after pics of the painting I began last year. The artwork was completed and sold a couple of weeks later. I will have another painting in progress at the event again this year and some prints and cards of my originals. I would love to chat about all things art and share some of my techniques if you’d care to call by. You’ll find all the Artesians together demonstrating their individual crafts. I have no doubt it will be another thoroughly enjoyable day in the country. See more

05.01.2022 I sold another one of my 'babies' at this year's art Exhibition here in Barcaldine". .. Gone to a good home though, but as always, ... a tad emotional. More like these in the Way Out West Exhibition currently appearing in the Gallery at Birdsville, if anyone's heading that way.

02.01.2022 I have had a wonderful opportunity presented to me. I have been accepted into an Artist Development Program called Way Out West.I think it is important to tell you that the program has been supported by Vast Arts Inc and Regional Arts Fund.Vast Arts also recognizes Flying Arts Alliance, Bunginderry Artist Camp and other contributors. And I ... am just thankful to to them all for the opportunity of a lifetime.! I will keep you posted on my progress and hopefully there will be some more Dawn Head Rose originals on the horizon as I take further steps towards an art career !! I have posted my Artist Statement here too. This was a requirement for my first interview. Boy was that an epic !!!
