18.01.2022 Attended a cadaveric surgical workshop on rib fracture fixation. There is enough evidence out there to say that fixing ribs in appropriately selected patients saves lives as well as saves resources for the healthcare systems. The only reason it’s not getting done as often it should is because the procedure itself falls in the grey area between Ortho-Cardiothoracic-Trauma surgeons and we need to cross the ‘credentialing’ barriers and work together.

06.01.2022 A ‘second opinion’ doesn’t necessarily have to be a contrarian one. It’s more than likely your other colleagues are making informed, considered and balanced decisions about the patients’ care and you are not obliged to disagree for the sake of a consultation.
