20.01.2022 Important messages for public safety from Townsville Hospital and Health Service Eating food that has not been refrigerated for some time can lead to illnesses such as salmonella, listeria, campylobacter or E.coli Wash your hands regularly with soap and water or use a hand sanitiser It is critical to wash and disinifect any wound, especially if it has been exposed to flood water or mud.... Do not let your children play in floodwater, they could possibly ingest it and there is also the added risk of snakes and crocodiles in the water Medication that has been exposed to water, or was normally refrigerated and has not been kept cold, may need to be discarded. One thing that I would add is to wear enclosed shoes. I cannot stress the importance of this enough. There are nasty bugs which can be contracted simply from your feet coming into contact with the mud and flood waters. Some of these bugs can be life threatening. If you notice cuts or abrasions becoming infected, treat them ASAP. If the infection seems to be getting worse then seek medical assistance. Stay safe everyone. 16.01.2022 According to the Australasian Birth Trauma Association (ABTA), 1 in 3 Australian women identify their births as traumatic and 1 in 4 first-time mothers suffer major physical damage. These experiences often leave a long-lasting impact on a woman’s physical and mental health, their ability to bond with their baby and their relationships with their partners, family and friends. To read more and watch the video, click on the link below. Please like and share this post to help raise awareness, particularly if you or a loved one have been impacted by birth trauma.

14.01.2022 My final post for coeliac awareness week; An eye opening article about the prevalence of coeliac disease, proving that this disease does not discriminate from a person's age, sex or race, rather a combination of genetics and environment. Please see your GP if you suffer from the symptoms described in this article. #CAW2018 #Coeliac #awareness Coeliac Australia

06.01.2022 Coronavirus is all everyone is talking about. It has symptoms the same as a common cold or the mild flu including sore throat, fever and cough. Most cases (80%) do not require medical treatment. You can protect yourself by washing your hands and practicing social distancing. If you become sick with flu like illness stay home until you fully recover. But if you are experiencing shortness of breath present to your local emergency department or call 000.
