24.01.2022 STOP AND TAKE A LOOK AROUND YOU. I often encourage my patients to use mindfulness techniques to help them cope better with stressors that life throws at them. A simple one involves just pausing what you’re doing, looking around at your surroundings, and spending a moment focusing on each of your senses in turn - what you see, hear, smell, feel and taste (if you’re eating something!). But how often do we practice what we preach? Who can admit they are too often completely cons...umed by thoughts racing through their minds, to actually appreciate what is going on around them? This is especially apparent at the moment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The other day, I thought I would give it a go on my way to work. I noticed this pretty palm a few meters from my house. Despite walking past it almost everyday (twice!), I had literally never seen it before. If you do the same, who knows what you may discover! See more

24.01.2022 JAWLINE AUGMENTATION. Are you self-conscious about your sagging jowls? Do you want a more defined jawline? Do you crave that Ms Jolie jaw angle? . Although this client is young and slim, she was unhappy with the appearance of her drooping jowls. You can see from the video how comfortable she is with my use of a cannula to deposit the filler along her jawline, hiding the problem area. As a little extra we decided to build up her jaw angles a touch too! . This is a relative...ly safe procedure and gives instant results with very little downtime. What is there not to like?! . (NB the white patches are just the anaesthetic. This was a pre-COVID procedure) See more

24.01.2022 MID FACE HOLLOWING. When volume is lost in this region (below the cheek, in front of the ear) clients often complain of looking gaunt or skeletal. This volume can be safely & painlessly restored by using a cannula to deposit filler into the hollow. Care must be taken not to over-fill the area, as this will obliterate the natural curve of the face, which is a seen as a key component of beautiful facial aesthetics. @ Sydney, Australia

22.01.2022 Cup of tea anyone?! Going against the grain of a picture with the traditional morning coffee in hand. More importantly, this is a nod to all my family, friends and colleagues in the UK under the cosh at the moment. X

20.01.2022 LOSE THE LINES, NOT THE EXPRESSION. Even two months after anti-wrinkle treatment, you can see how this client can easily express herself and still not be concerned about those deep forehead grooves appearing. A common worry clients have is that anti-wrinkle treatment will impact on their ability to express themselves. This is especially true for those who feel that their facial expressions are the key to how they interact with friends or work colleagues. It is a common misconception that the only possible outcome is a frozen face. In reality, the majority of clients want to simply look refreshed, and NOT like they’ve had work done.

19.01.2022 SO, ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS. WHAT ARE THEY? * This is probably the most common question I’m asked on a day to day basis. Whether it’s friends, work colleagues, patients, my barber or the man down the pub - when you work in the cosmetic industry, it’s easy to forget that FAR more people don’t know anything about injectable than do! * So for those people, here is a visualisation of the three most common regions treated with anti-wrinkle injections (there are many more):... * The forehead (frontalis muscle), the frown (glabella complex), and the eyes (lateral canthi). * These expressive muscles are in constant use, and with advancing age, they tend to stay clench up causing wrinkling of the overlying skin. So you may feel (or are told!) that you look angry, serious, tired, old, upset, anxious - basically the complete set of negative facial expressions! * Two weeks after treatment you can see how the wrinkles and creases are smoothed out and the skin has a nice fresh look to it, giving the lovely client a more youthful look. * Oh, and it’s got nothing to do with big lips..(!) 19.01.2022 LIPS * (Photo taken immediately after injection- swelling settles in a few days) * This client wanted more volume in her upper lip & to improve the definition of the lip borders whilst maintaining her natural shape. A touch of volume was added to the lower lip pillows also.... * 1ml of filler was used in this case. Many styles of lip can be create using different techniques and filler types - DM me if you want to know more. * See more

18.01.2022 WHEN THE COVID GOES AWAY, THE FLU MAY PLAY. Here we are doing a flu clinic al fresco style, to minimise patient numbers in the practice. The current isolation measures are likely to drastically reduce the impact of flu infections this year. However don’t forget the flu can still be life-threatening to the young, elderly or immunosuppressed. Make sure your relatives who are in these categories get vaccinated!

16.01.2022 JAW SLIMMING & TEETH GRINDING. Anti-wrinkle injections don’t just treat wrinkles! Clients often seek help for teeth-grinding/clenching (aka bruxism) which causes headaches, jaw pain and worn teeth. Carefully placed injections into the masseter (chewing) muscles can relieve these symptoms. In addition, it can slim down the squared ‘masculine’ appearance of the jaw which some women find undesirable.

15.01.2022 Morning! Sunrise swim around Wedding Cake Island with the brilliant @vladswim. Summer is on its way.. @ Coogee, New South Wales

14.01.2022 SKIN BIOPSY. Ever wondered what is involved when a lesion is biopsied for suspected skin cancer? This was a new, non-healing, crusty spot on the scalp of a chap in his 30’s with a history of multiple basal cell carcinomas. Skin cancers can develop anywhere on the body, and often when you are young and don’t expect it!

13.01.2022 PRP / Liquid Gold / Vampire Facial. I believe this is the best natural way to bring the glow back to your skin. By promoting collagen and elastin production, it improves wrinkles, hydrates and heals damaged skin, and produces smoothness that no other procedure can. It is great for hair loss and acne scarring too! I add a unique cocktail of vitamins, and a sprinkle of botulinum toxin to help refresh and tighten the skin. I deliver the PRP cocktail using a three methods: direct needling, meso-gun and dermapen. As a little extra I apply a light chemical peel whilst waiting for the liquid gold to be extracted in the centrifuge. My unique technique gives you far better results than the traditional method of just injecting plain PRP using a needle, which many other clinicians are still offering. DM me for details!

12.01.2022 LIPS * This client wanted to add volume to her lips but keep her natural proportions. She also wanted a more defined vermillion border. * The video was taken immediately post injection. You should always expect some temporary swelling or redness after having lip filler. ... * When things have settled down after about two weeks, I like to re-assess and touch-up as needed. * 1ml of medium thickness filler was required in this particular example. 11.01.2022 Beautiful morning for a 100k ride around Byron Bay and beyond. What winter!? @ Byron Bay, New South Wales

10.01.2022 A big thank you to one of my happy clients @daria_busse. She makes walking along the beach look so appealing, whatever the weather!

08.01.2022 BROTOX * Deep frown lines smoothed out nicely here using anti-wrinkle injections. * Wrinkles are great for Halloween, but now it’s time to freshen up for Christmas! ... * It’s not just women who like to look younger and fresher. Those men who have been thinking about taking the plunge - now is a great time. * And wives, girlfriends & partners, why not treat the other half? Get him looking a bit more like when you first laid eyes on him! See more

07.01.2022 AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. Looking forward to times like these again- the lovely Mrs Brown and accompanying me to the Cosmedicon 2020 gala dinner. Equally looking forward to rocking the English velvet slippers at the next one! Sydney is certainly thawing out - more people in the parks, on the train, in the shops. I am now open for injectable medical treatments for teeth grinding, chronic migraine and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). See you soon!

06.01.2022 Not doing a very good job at containing my excitement before wine tasting @krinklewood in the @huntervalley!

06.01.2022 FAT DISSOLVING INJECTIONS * Injecting a product containing a synthetic bile acid can dissolve unwanted fat under the chin, the jowls, bra-line, calves.. or pretty much any area you can think! * It is a cheaper, safer and less invasive way than liposuction.... * Usually a course of 2-3 treatments spread out over 3-6 months is required, although this depends on the patient. * This client is having her second treatment. Results coming soon ;) See more

05.01.2022 NASOLABIAL FOLDS / SMILE LINES * As we age, our facial features naturally start dropping downwards. One noticeable feature of this is a deepening of the groove between the lower border of the cheek and the peri-oral area. * This can be remedied in a couple of ways. For those who don’t want a cheek lift/enhancement, the nasolabial fold can be smoothed by placing a medium-firm filler along its length using a cannula. ... * The bottom arrows show how this technique can also smooth over the small lines beside the corner of the mouth. * This particular client required 1ml either side. * The area outlined by the triangle is called the piriform recess. Making this area less prominant requires a separate injection of filler deep into the space below. See more

05.01.2022 SKIN CANCER SURGERY. This gentleman developed quite an aggressive skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) in a prominent position on his face. Although a significant amount of surrounding skin needed to be excised, the final result is aesthetically acceptable. I just wanted to highlight that whether you cosmetic injector or perform facial surgery, good knowledge of facial anatomy is essential!

05.01.2022 WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY. Thank you to Dr Liz Dawes-Higgs @ausdermatologist for highlighting today, a day which aims to inspire photographers across the planet to share a single photo with a simple purpose: to share the world with the world. * She inspired me to rummage through my recent holiday snaps from Byron. I took this photo of the Byron Bay railroad at dusk. I have not touched it up or added a filter. *... I don’t pretend to be even an amateur photographer, but I have always been fascinated by the dramatic way light can alter the look and mood of a photograph at different times of the day. * I also chose this photo as I felt the endlessness of the track echos my feelings that this pandemic is not going to melt away anytime soon. * Which photo would you choose? See more

03.01.2022 CHRISTMAS & NY BOOKINGS * Just a quick reminder to my clients (and possible clients!) thinking about booking any cosmetic treatments in time for the festive season. * It's best to book sooner rather than later, just in case any top-ups or touch-ups are needed... so we can make sure you're all set in time.... * See you soon! 01.01.2022 COMMUNICATION * Undergoing a cosmetic procedure can be pretty daunting, whether it’s your first time.. or your 50th! * I like to keep an open channel of communication with my clients, to help alleviate any concerns they might have, both pre- & post-procedure. ... * I also encourage client feedback following any procedure, as this is helps me to better understand their experience. This gives me the best chance at ensuring they get the results they are looking for. * This usually involves messaging in the days following a procedure, and a face-to-face appointment two weeks later. * Have a lovely LONG weekend! x See more

01.01.2022 PERI-ORAL/SMOKER’S LINES * The lines around the mouth which develop with age are often unfairly called ‘smoker’s lines,’ but they occur in non-smokers just as much! * My preferred method of treatment is to pass a cannula under the skin and subcise any material causing it to stick to the muscle below (which contributes to wrinkles). ... * Following this, a thin filler is deposited under the skin, smoothing out the lines in the process. * A couple of units of botulinum toxin can also be injected in the area to finish things off. * This particular patient required 1ml of filler above the top lip. A common worry of clients is causing a ‘duck lip’, however as you can see here, this is not an issue. See more
