13.01.2022 my background: I grew up in South Africa, and completed my initial training as a doctor at the University of Witwatersrand, in South Africa. My wife and I moved to England, and I did my GP training there. I have a broad range of interests and found it difficult to image spending all my time on only 1 specialty. This is why I chose General Practice and Family Medicine as my "specialty". I worked as a GP for 10 years, 5 of which I was a part-time director in the local hea...lth service for the county of Bedfordshire. I had a particular focus on improving the pathway for our frail elderly patients. In my clinical practice, I acted as lead for respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD as well as leading on our approach to help keep our frail and complex patients out of hospital. While we enjoyed living in England, we wanted the outdoor lifestyle my wife and I grew up with, and decided to moved to Western Australia. I am now working as a full time GP, from The Heights Medical Center, which is 1 of a group of practices run by PerthGP. We have an excellent team, and aim to provide a friendly, professional and accessible service to the local population.
