21.01.2022 After probably about 2 years with some kind of beard I’m reuniting with my 12 year old self for a good cause. My chin is chilly and I’ve lost 2 inches of my face but if you’d like to donate that’d be great, Movember is a fantastic cause! https://mobro.co/brydenmcgregor
21.01.2022 Some good old Winnie-the-Pooh to help you through the week.
20.01.2022 I’m jumping straight back into work after taking a month off dancing through the Middle East. Really brought into focus the environmental and human battles we face, humanising what I’d seen only on the news. Currently feeling a lot of gratitude to have lived and been brought up in Australia. So if you need a helping hand you can find me at the Osteopaths in Heidelberg (Wed, Fri and Sat), Osteopathic Sense (Mon and Tues) and Fertile Ground East Melbourne (Tues and every second Sat)
18.01.2022 A little thing my sister has started doing that I love, other than telling me exactly what she thinks (even when I don't want to hear it). She asks her family three questions every time they sit down for dinner together. 1. What was the best part of your day? 2. Who are you most grateful for today and why? 3. What are you most looking forward to tomorrow?... Something worth trying with friends and colleagues as well. It's been really interesting for me personally to hear some of the answers. #positivepsychology #osteopath #health
17.01.2022 Funny how the world works sometimes. Had the great privilege of treating the granddaughter of the incredible Rhea Dempsey today (counsellor, independent childbirth educator, trainer and author- check her out!), who helped bring me into the world
17.01.2022 Was great to check out the new studio that these guys have been working so hard to create over the last 2 months. Can't wait to work with them in the future!
15.01.2022 I am simply trying to teach you what you are; to get you to realize your right to health, and when you see the cures wrought here, after all other means have failed, you can but know that the foundation of my work is laid on nature’s rock. Autobiography of A. T. Still (founder of Osteopathy) For me the guiding principle of Osteopathy is the body’s natural expression is health. Our job is to uncover what impedes that function and thereby discover health once more
14.01.2022 As some of you may know I went to India last September and found it a really transformative experience. Right now we are all going through some major changes and challenges but also an incredible opportunity to go inward. Over the next 6 weeks I'm offering daily mediations at 7am (Mon-Fri) and flexible on the weekends. These will be free or donation based (Bryden McGregor, BSB: 633123 Acc: 169962818 which will be sent to https://rodaleinstitute.org/). Things are a little cr...azy right now but it is often our past experiences that dictate our reactions to the present moment. Our minds seem to be able to constantly access every memory our body has ever experienced. Trauma, pain, shock, fear, anger, sadness, but also lightness, happiness, bliss, love, freedom, health. Ultimately though, what we access is simply what we have the ability to focus on in any given moment. It's the presence in understanding ourselves in each moment that gives us our perspective. If we can shift the foundation and focus of self knowing to being positive, loving, joyful and compassionate. Then we can empower ourselves to cope with whatever we come across along our journey and build gratitude into our lives. As struggle is often a gift of transformation. As a new world unfolds in front of our eyes developing a solid foundation of self understanding helps protect us from negative belief and being led. It gives you the space you need to make choices in life that feel right deep in your core. It gives you the ability to be you and the opportunity to take full responsibility for everything you do, this responsibility is not a burden, it is a freedom to be able to turn up in all aspects of your life as YOU. No apologies, no excuses, no shame. For me, it's simply a sense of coming home. If you would like to join please do! Get into contact and I will induct you over zoom and then you can join in on one of the daily zoom sessions. You can just show up for tomorrows Sunday special at 8am though as i'll stream Anandji (my teacher) talking about cultivating a grateful heart. Something that I feel is so important during this time. If you are struggling and would like some simply breath work or anything else please get into contact. (Special thanks to Elissa O'Brien for constructing her thoughts in such an articulate way which I borrowed heavily from for this little intro)
12.01.2022 Been thinking about sensitivity recently and how we often hide away from being vulnerable and open. Leunig obviously has been too. Hope you have a great weekend :)
10.01.2022 Over the weekend I had my Grandmothers Centenary Celebration. Unfortunately I never got to meet her as she died before I was born but she sounded like a pretty amazing individual and it was fascinating learning about her. One characteristic that was brought up a few times was her big warm embraces. Hugs are something that I've always loved and taken pretty seriously but never known where I got it from until now. Neuroscience seems to have proven that they're pretty good too. ...A hug, especially a long one, releases a neurotransmitter and hormone called oxytocin, which reduces the reactivity of the amygdala (the amygdala is responsible for the response and memory of emotions especially fear). Apparently getting five hugs a day for four weeks increases your happiness big time! The article also mentions a few other important factors that can help our happiness levels according to some of the latest neuroscience research. See the summary below if your interested. 1. Ask "what am I grateful for?" No answers? Doesn't matter. Just searching helps. 2. Label those negative emotions. Give it a name and your brain isn't so bothered by it. 3. Decide. Go for "good enough" instead of "best decision ever made on Earth." 4. Hugs, hugs, hugs. Don't text touch.
10.01.2022 New year. New beginnings. Always exciting starting with a (...somewhat) clean slate . Celebrated a very hectic Christmas and New Years with friends, family and housemates and managed to complete my first open water swim at the Pier to Pub at Lorne over the weekend which felt pretty great. Now before we know it Jan will be over and the year will really begin with everyone back at work. I’ve been feeling pretty sleepy still so I’m planning on doing a febfast that’s no alc...ohol, very clean eating and excising in some capacity 6x per week. I’ve got 6 people joining in in one way or another (just choose whatever time frame and aspect you want to improve on). This is just something I want to do for me but if you’re feeling it jump on board and maybe we can do something similar later in the year while raising some money at the same time. Hope everyone has had a great break! See more
09.01.2022 Healthy Feb is here. There’s about 16 people joining in so far so I hope you’re off to a flying start. Swim yesterday and yoga this morning has prepped me for a great session with Kyle at PXP. I’m currently working on my posterior chain and left shoulder rehab. One great exercise is the dead lift and this is a version of that called the Romanian deadlift. It’s a viable assistance exercise to increase hip strength and power, improve and maintain full ROM in the hips and pull movements, and ultimately diversifying your lower body training. I’ve tried to demonstrate a couple good ones and two bad ones with common mistakes. Kyle has nicely done the voice over work #febfast #fabfeb #osteopath #functional #health #back #pain #rehab #romaniandeadlift

05.01.2022 I'm becoming increasing interested in plants and gardening, which could explain how I've gone from 1 to 9 plants in my room in the last 12 months. Even managing to keep them alive for the first time in my life. I love how they change the air quality and also the feeling of a room. They can even help your sleep. Here are 5 that might help do that. You can also check out this link to find ones that are air purifying and hard to kill-> http://greatist.com/connect/houseplants-that-clean-air. I also love Devils Ivy.
04.01.2022 A potentially useful study... might have to try it out yourself over the weekend and see? #drinkresponibly #weekend #iknewit #osteopath
04.01.2022 Did you sense it ? I’ve now started at Osteopathic Sense Monday afternoons and Thursday’s. I’m really excited to be working with Leon and the rest of the team and already feel at home . I’m still at East Melbourne Tuesday’s afternoon and every second Saturday and Heidelberg heights Wednesday, Friday and Sat so there should be a time for an appointment in there somewhere if you’re in need.
04.01.2022 Newcastle was a pretty amazing place to celebrate getting through Dry July (with coffee and Sugar chucked in just for fun). Something that I've tried to do the last few years but this one was definitely the best yet. It's crazy when you have less of a toxic load on your body how you start sleeping better and then exercising more. My head felt clearer, etc. It was also interesting to feel a bit of a emotional change where I felt more clear and was able to observe and get rid of a few things that were not adding to my life. Super proud of my brother in law and sister for joining in. Especially, Scott Mackenzie, a man who would probably eat tomato sauce on white bread and consider it a meal, its been awesome to see you really take on the challenge and seem to actually enjoy it, or at least the benefits! #sugarfree #DryJuly #osteopath
03.01.2022 There's some fantastic research coming out about this. Apps such as headspace and smiling minds are a great way to start to get into meditation.
01.01.2022 Such an interesting and powerful talk.
01.01.2022 Ed Santamaria is a fantastic Osteo and friend and has been inspiring me to make decisions out of love not fear recently. Seems like not a bad idea so I went down to Capeshank and had a little think about it #Chooselovenotfear #Osteo #positivehealth
