16.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day. Its our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is struggling with lifes ups and downs. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. Learn what to say after R U OK? at the R U OK website https://www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

11.01.2022 Feeling lonely? Not sure who can you speak to? You are not alone. The Outer East Phone Chat set up in response to COVID-19, is for anyone who is feeling isolated and would like to have a chat. Call toll free Monday to Friday 10am 1pm ... Monday to Thursday 5pm -9pm. PH: 1800 984 825 ----------- The Community Houses Association of the Outer Eastern Suburbs (CHAOS Inc) is a network of 30 Neighbourhood and community houses and centres across Melbournes outer eastern suburbs. Current COVID-19 restrictions require people to stay home and self isolate, meaning many people, especially those unable to use or without access to technology, may be cut off from their normal social support networks and feel very lonely and isolated. In response to this, they have created a toll-free line where people can simply ring and have a chat. It is not therapeutic or for a crisis, just a friendly person on the other end of the phone. http://www.chaosnetwork.org.au/

09.01.2022 Congratulations to The Philanthropic Collective who is the 7th recipient of our 2020 Staff Grant program. In this program our branch staff were given the opportunity to nominate a local community group or club to receive a $1,000 one-off grant. Andrew from the group said We are thrilled to have been nominated by Abigael Jamieson, Branch Manager - Upwey Community Branch as the recipients of this years Staff Grants Program. As a small grass roots charity serving our c...ommunity we struggle in this competitive space to secure funding. To be awarded this grant will mean we will have funds towards our insurance policy without too much more fund raising to cover the premium. That is 400 less sausages to cook and a sell at the next Bunnings BBQ if we even receive a spot! This will be a welcome relief to all our team and volunteers who work selflessly all year round with Halloween on the Green, our Free Food Program and our all new Connect program, connecting students to free laptops. When we think of our community bank we think of them as members of our extended family, because thats really the relationship we share. We invest in the bank, they in turn reinvest into our community and we are collectively all the better for the exchange. Thank you Upwey Bendigo Bank for your ongoing support. There is nothing like a community bank which reaches out to the community to offer support when youre not asking, least expect it and need it the most. Having such a wonderful team at the bank who are always up for some good old fashioned community fun, is a dream. Participating in our endeavors whether it being dunked into freezing water or providing support, the team is always ready to have a go. Pictured is Abi with Andrew wearing masks to ensure everyone stays 1.5 meters away from them . Ok bad joke - its Juan and Juanita roaming performers at last years Halloween on the Green. #supportlocal #inthistogether #goodnewsstory
