21.01.2022 In 2012, Amy Pejkovic was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour with a diameter of 5cm. Reflecting on her story and experiences post-surgery, Amy describes the d...ay her physio took her for a walk. The physio bought the walking frame around to the side of the bed, My mum and the physio were both holding me each side helping me stand up. I was exhausted already, a far cry from the athlete I had been two weeks ago I continued to take steps out the door, they were all so proud of me, I was proud of myself I had finally gotten out of bed and walked! We are so proud to have Australian high jumper and triple jumper Amy Pejkovic as an ambassador of the Charlie Teo Foundation. Join Amy at our Christmas with Charlie event next Tuesday. 19.01.2022 We are making art and having conversations to express our outrage! But the doctors and scientists have already shared the PROOF. Why the f#!? are the Telcos no...t doing anything to warn people and why the f#!? is the Government allowing us to get brain cancer? The first 5 minutes is a mind blower Thank you both Dr Charlie Teo and Dr Devra Davis (Environmental Health Trust) for standing up and speaking the TRUTH. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yXy_uGWF-v8

17.01.2022 Happy Birthday to our founder Dr Charlie Teo Charlie sends a special message to our supporters and all families affected by brain cancer, one of hope that together we can cure brain cancer.

15.01.2022 Here are Charlie and Flynn, a vibrant 16-year-old who recently underwent lifesaving brain surgery after being diagnosed with a rare brain cancer. Flynn starts h...is 3rd round of chemotherapy this week. Flynn, we want you to know that we’re behind you every step of the way! Flynn’s wonderful and brave mum Michelle shares the moment they found the tumour, a moment no mother should have to endure: Well to say the last few days have been an emotional roller coaster is an understatement. Our gorgeous Flynn was diagnosed with a brain tumour after experiencing chronic headaches. An MRI showed a brain tumour in the centre of his brain. We were sent straight to hospital and immediately saw a neurosurgeon. The news was confirmed and to make matters worse we found out that the tumour was in a very difficult spot to operate and a high-risk operation. Surgeon was hesitant to go in and offered a variety of alternative treatments. My beautiful sister then got me in to see Dr Charlie Teo who confirmed the tumour but advised us he wanted to go in straight away and take it out. If it were his son, he would have done it yesterday as Flynn could drop dead any minute with the pressure and fluid in his brain. We were given the statistics of the operation, given the position of the tumour and the dire consequences that could happen on the operating table. We had to make a decision straight away. Flynn went into surgery at 7.30pm and I received a call from Dr Charlie Teo at 11.45pm telling me the operation went beautifully. We saw Flynn half hour later and he was talking to us, with his beautiful big smile. To Dr Teo, you saved our little angel and I will be forever grateful. Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease. It’s patients like Flynn and his family that we are fighting for to find a cure. Help us offer hope for a better future, by donating to brain cancer research.

15.01.2022 When it comes to preparing for surgery, I like to see myself as some sort of elite athlete. When you look at those athletes, one thing that really comes across... is this amazing focus. This amazing drive to win And that’s what I try to do to prepare for surgery. I tell myself this patient is my loved one. I’m going to treat this patient like they are a member of my own family. What would I do if it was a family member? I’d make sure everything was optimum. I’d make sure my personal state was optimum, the people around me had the same mentality, my team was the best and my equipment was the best. That’s what I do for every patient. 13.01.2022 Childhood Cancer Awareness

13.01.2022 Rob has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, known as GBM. It is the worst type of brain cancer and sadly also the most common. Patients have an average survival o...f only 14 months from diagnosis. Dr Charlie Teo can only extend life for patients with GBM, but we can’t yet cure them. In the midst of COVID-19, Rob, a Queenslander, managed to get himself on a flight to Sydney and Dr Charlie Teo embarked on an emergency surgery outside of his usual operating schedule. The operation to remove the tumour went well and Rob is pictured here with Charlie Rob also donated his tumour to the Charlie Teo Foundation Brain Tumour Bank, which we are still running during COVID-19 under emergency safety procedures. His tumour tissue will be sequenced and studied to help us learn how to better treat this terrible disease. Thank you, Rob, for letting us share your story with our brain cancer community, you are a very brave man. Stay strong, hold hope and know that we’re all behind you.

05.01.2022 It’s always about offering that little bit of hope because we do see miracles happen. I’ve got my fair share of miracles, or miraculous saves and cures. So, ex...pect the worst and hope for the best. I tell my patients, here’s the worst you’ve heard it, you can google it. But the best is that there are people out there who have beaten the disease. We don’t yet know why, but the Charlie Teo Foundation is working hard to find out and make this the norm Professor Charlie Teo See more

04.01.2022 Yesterday this brave young boy Nate underwent his 5th brain surgery with Charlie to remove a recurring tumour. We are pleased to hear that Nate is feeling well ...and full of energy today, just 24 hours after surgery. Here are some kind words from Nate's mum: "I just wanted to share what Charlie said when I thanked him Tuesday when he said he can easily remove that new tumour. I thanked him and he said don’t thank me, thank yourself. He thanked me for having the courage to trust him again and again. He said parents who make these decisions with such courage are the main part of a cancer journey with a child. Charlie said he is just a tiny part of it all however he leaves such a lasting impression on me for all he has done for Nate. He hugged me each time he saw us and he spent time playing with Nate and his matchbox cars at the consultation on Tuesday. He doesn’t tell me that he can cure Nate but he reminds me that hope is the essence of life. So as we continue on this journey I can say that this operation has been a breeze for Nate and it's certainly not eaten into any quality of life he has at the moment." - Nate’s Mates

01.01.2022 As a neurosurgeon I’ve been fortunate enough to learn from my patients what it means to hold and cradle hope when the odds are against you. False hope? There’s no such thing.
