18.01.2022 The importance of a support person during labour and birth can not be overstated, especially in these trying times. I completely agree with the Royal Aust & NZ College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists RANZCOG Statement on support persons. #GLOWSpecialists #empoweredbirth #maternalchoice #Adelaideobstetrician

16.01.2022 Like many people we are currently concerned about the impending health crisis with COVID-19. In view of these uncertain times, and the need to ensure our staff ...and patients health is maximised, we have decided to adopt changes in line with current medical advice from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists. Our extra precautions in clinic are as follows: 1. If you or anyone within your close contacts are sick or have a fever we ask you call to reschedule your appointment. 2. If you or your close contacts have returned from any overseas country in the last 14 days please contact the rooms to reschedule your appointment. 3. Please try to arrive for your appointment on time, neither late nor early, to minimise time in the waiting room. If your appointment is likely to be delayed we will try to contact you before your appointment time. 4. If you arrive early and wish to wait in the car until we are ready for you, call reception and this will be arranged. 5. On arrival at the rooms - go straight to reception desk and use the hand sanitiser provided. The receptionist will take your temperature using a no-touch thermometer - if your temperature is above 37.7C, you will be asked to leave and return home. 6. We would prefer, where possible, for our patients to attend their appointments alone. We understand this may present some childcare problems; please contact the rooms to discuss further. 7. We have removed all non-essential items from the waiting rooms and consultation rooms to facilitate regular cleaning of all surfaces. 8. All surfaces in patient contact to be cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day and between patients. The direct implication of COVID-19 in pregnancy appears to be low, however the data is early and very limited. In view of this pregnancy schedules and services will be modified ahead to maximise safety: - Pregnancy appointments will now be kept to essential reviews only - All face to face appointments will be kept to 15 minutes or less to reduce transmission risk - Pregnancy ultrasounds will now only be performed if absolutely essential. - Telehealth appointments will be utilised if possible for non-urgent reviews - Your individual pregnancy schedule will be reviewed and adjusted accordingly. IF we find ourselves in the unfortunate scenario of a positive COVID-19 case at GLOW Specialists we will be closed for a minimum of 14 days so we are doing our best to contain and minimise any risk. Thank you for your kind understanding with these changes, we will be reviewing the situation constantly and keeping you updated. 09.01.2022 Today we mark Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day - remembering the lives of babies lost, both before and after birth. We recognise the profound sadness ...of losing a baby, and its impact on women and their families. Each year, three in every 1000 babies born in Australia die before they reach 12 months of age. Six babies are stillborn every day and one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage.

08.01.2022 Helping bring these beautiful little souls into the world is my favourite part of my job Thanks She Digital for the fantastic footage!

This week is Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Awareness Week, which aims to raise awareness and reduce stigma of these incredibly important conditions.
