11.01.2022 Induction of labour means we start your labour with medication, rather than waiting for it to happen spontaneously. For more about induction, from why it might be recommended to what actually happens on the day, read my latest blog post! https://drcolinwalsh.com.au/induction-of-labour/

11.01.2022 In the past, epidurals were known to increase the chance of a forceps or vacuum birth. However, studies since 2005 show that's no longer the case! In a major review of the evidence, modern epidural techniques did not increase the chance of having an instrumental birth. This is really reassuring for women who want to include an epidural in their birth plan. Read more at https://drcolinwalsh.com.au/epidural-anesthesia/

10.01.2022 Always amazed by the kindness of my patients! I made a passing comment about often eating on the run - which sometimes results in too much chocolate! - and next thing I know, this lovely patient dropped off an enormous hamper of grab-and-go snacks that she had put together. So thoughtful - thank you so much!

07.01.2022 We finally made it to the holidays! We hope everyone is able to take a break and celebrate in some way, even if it's not quite as planned (that seems to be the theme of 2020). We're thinking especially of our friends, patients and colleagues on the Northern Beaches; anyone whose Christmas plans got upended at the last minute; and all the healthcare workers and contact tracers who'll be working through the holidays to keep us all safe.
