14.01.2022 Early results from the new customized cross linking keratoconus treatment we have at Queensland Eye Institute. This is an Australian first and at this stage this treatment is only only available at QEI.

12.01.2022 Planning a customised corneal cross linking treatment. Customised cross linking allows control of the flattening effect of the cross linking reaction. Variable amounts of cross linking can be selectively applied to different topographic regions. This allows remodeling of the corneal shape without insertion of prosthetics (intracorneal ring segments) or removal of tissue (such as via excimer laser ablation). For an early keratoconic it may improve UDVA as a stand-alone treat...ment. For more advanced cases it may be used as a first step to provide a degree of flattening and reduce the amount of excimer laser ablation required at a later step. This technology customises the cross linking to patient's eyes to not only stop their disease progression but also aims to improve the shape of their cornea and vision they have. Lipiflow is a comfortable once off 12 minute treatment that has been show to improve dry eye symptoms by up to 50% out to 1-2 years.
