02.01.2022 Sharing this photo provided by Rosemary Watt of Cloncurry Hospital Matron Lillian Craib 1921-22. Words from the Townsville Daily Bulletin, Saturday 7 August 1920, page 7. "Out of the 12 applications for the position, five of those which seemed to be best supported by diplomas and references were chosen and submitted to an exhaustive ballot. The names were - Nurses Thomas, Rich, Holden, Craib and Hodgsen, the result being in favour of Nurse Lillian Craib, who was consequently... appointed Matron, and who is expected to take up her duties in a fortnight from date. The hospital is to be congratulated on securing the services of such a qualified nurse as matron. She comes highly recommended by both Drs Fearnley and Edmeades, of Charters Towers where she has her home. Nurse Craib, who has been on active service in India and elsewhere, comes to us with unimpeachable testimonials."
