23.01.2022 Many many moons ago, perhaps another lifetide, when a full time practicing filmmaker, I had an epiphany, whilst reading Macbeth. The term ‘Weird sister’ was something I naturally felt attracted to, supernatural; unearthly , felt like a very good fit. As a queer women, I always felt the title ‘Queer’, was more inline with the masculine, and never connected with ‘Queer Filmmaker’, I felt it often took away from the narrative of my work. However, ‘Queer Cinema’ is certa...inly a part of my story, but somehow I felt the terminology was gendered and often indulgent. As a post Queer thought, I decided to walk my path as a Weirdsista To further explain my reasoning: For those of you that have developed film, you will understand that the mixing of potions and the magic of film appearing on celluloid, is wildly reminiscent of creating spells. As I often developed my film in either buckets or a RussianTank, resembling a formidable cauldron, this new role as unearthly and supernatural, felt as comfortable as an old shoe. Moving forward to my current life. I do still make films, however, for myself more so then the large screen. I do however, continue to use the term Weirdsita to describe myself and my business also makes reference to this, both in artwork and language. Today I wanted to share with you the beautiful image that has been designed for my current business, by a wonderful artist, Weirdsista and dear friend Jaz Mishap https://www.instagram.com/jazmishap/ . That’s when 13 Years ago, Lock Stock & Apparel was born and the products you know and love today. Over the years, with continued growth of our Weirdsistas Lokk Mechanics Salon/s and the Sista System Dreadlock Training Academy it has come to a time where we have decided to move forward with our journey with Excit...ing Life endeavours. It is a pleasure to be able to pass the business to someone we have known for the last 10 years and who has used and loved our product exclusively over that time.
