25.01.2022 We are all safely back in KL now. I once again have wifi, unfortunately could not post anything back in Rompin last night so here it is..... Day 4 finished with only the 1 Sail being landed from 5 chances. It was a hard day all round with only 8 Sails being landed by the fleet of about 17 boats that were out. The tally landed this year was 11 Sails. Down considerably on previous trips but at the end of the day this is what we get with all types of fishing, sometimes they a...re on sometimes they are not. It's not that they were not there, we saw them up on the surface in pods and free jumping, just hard to get them on the line. In several pods that we got close too we noticed that the Sails were balling up and feeding on anchovies. This could well be the reason why the catch numbers were down, we couldn't match the size of the bait that they were fixated on. Tomorrow sees us getting up early and venturing out targeting Snake Head and Peacock Bass, looking forward to a new species on the list.

25.01.2022 Welcome aboard the new site for my overseas expeditions. I have created this page in order to keep it separated from my personal page and to link it in with my current Darwin Sportfishing Safaris site. This page will keep all followers informed of upcoming trips as well as being a results/brag page for current trips and events. Please also use this page as a means to make contact for any information required on any trip.... Tight lines

25.01.2022 I never got to post how we went chasing the Peacock Bass and Snake Head on Saturday. Well day started when we woke up to the rain, on our pre dawn drive around KL it was still drizzling. We reached our destination just after first light which was a large reservoir on a Malaysian Army Base, the weather had cleared just a bit at this time, we rigged up and began casting an assortment of soft plastics, soft frogs, fixers and walk the dog surface lures, 5 mins in and the heave...ns opened up again. Unfortunately the rain made the fishing very hard and the only capture for the morning was to myself landing a 70cm Clown Knife Fish. A strange fish that had a head like a Barra and a tail like a Ling. Sani ended up with the video footage and pics on his phone so they will be along on site soon.

20.01.2022 After spending yesterday traveling from KL to Kuala Rompin we settled into a villa last night, resting up and hit the water today for day 1. We found it hard going before lunch not even raising a fish but managed to end the day with 5 Sails from 5 hookups. The weather blew up a bit this arvo making it a bit rough so we headed in at 3 and are now on Palau Tioman.... Hope tomorrow brings a better morning session.

18.01.2022 Well that time of the year is here again, we are just over a week away from arriving in Kuala Lumpur for our 2017 adventure. This year we have rolled all into only the one trip and will be unearthing new grounds by fishing and staying at Palau Tioman. Tioman is an Island about 2 hours travel by boat from Rompin into the South China Sea. Staying out there this year gives us less daily travel time and allows us the ability of fishing further afield with less crowds. It also... gives us the chance of encountering some Black Marlin..... Fingers crossed! Our accommodation on the island is in a Chalet, we will have wifi available so I will endeavor to keep everyone up to date with how we are going. Just a little bit excited now! Can't wait

11.01.2022 Day 2 now over. Things didn't go as planned today but all good. We had a fuel issue that restricted how far we traveled. It's been a Muslim holiday period over here since early last week and supplies from the mainland only resumed today. Tomorrow we look good to travel again so all the lads are hoping for better results. Even with fuel shortages today we managed to land 1 nice Sail and dropped a 30kg Black Marlin.

07.01.2022 Ok folks, it's time to get serious and lock in your seats for this years Kuala Rompin Sailfish Expeditions. I am now accepting deposits and outright payments so get in and don't miss out. Should anyone require info or special requirements I can be contacted by phone on 0499999713, by email on [email protected] or through FB messenger.

05.01.2022 Hi all, I am pleased to announce the dates for our 2017 Sailfish season in Kuala Rompin Malaysia. We will be kicking off with 3 trips to begin with and can look at more dates should the interest be there. Trip 1. (4th to the 11th Sept.) and Trip 3. (20th to the 27th Sept.). These packages are 7 nights, of which 5 are on the island of Palau Tioman. 4 days guided fishing on 40/45 foot purpose built vessels with large twin four stroke outboard configurations. The vessels are f...ast, stable and safe! All meals, accommodation, transfers, bottled water, soft drinks and quality fishing tackle is provided. Trip 2. (12th to the 19th Sept.). This package would suit the more serious angler. These dates coincide with the 2017 Royal Pahang International Billfish Tournament that is held annually out of Kuala Rompin. Knowing that some of my friends and clients have a competitive edge added to the fact that our selected boats and crew have won and placed in this tournament in the past is a good recipe for an exciting adventure. The package is 7 nights, 5 in Kuala Rompin. 3 and a half days guided fishing on 40/45 foot purpose built vessels with large twin four stroke outboard configurations. The vessels are fast, stable and safe! All meals, accommodation, transfers, bottled water, soft drinks and quality fishing tackle and tournament entry fees are provided. The trips pretty much have everything covered. Should you wish to have the odd drink this will be at your expense and we can make arrangements to order and shop ahead for convenience. Beer is the only alcohol permitted onboard the vessels and it is polite to not over indulge! If anyone needs anymore information regarding Rompin 2017 please contact myself or Kristy Philliskirk through this page. Looking forward to seeing some faces old and new on these upcoming adventures

03.01.2022 Day 3 down now with one to go. Fishing proved difficult again today and it appears across the board. There were 15 to 20 boats working the grounds we were in today and as far as we now we landed 4 from the total of 15 Sails between all those boats!! It is definitely out of character for this area. Even with the fishing down the group are still in great spirit and enjoying the trip.

02.01.2022 Seats are still available for this years September Kuala Rompin Sailfish Expeditions. With numbers already locked in we can still cater for ones and two's to add to other groups or you could get your own group of 3 to 4 anglers to make up a booking of your own boat. If it's Billfish that you want, this destination won't disappoint! Good numbers, great fishing, great company and great food all at a budget price!! Be sure to get in contact if this is what you are looking for and we can have a chat about options and packages.

01.01.2022 Had dramas posting yesterday's results. Day 3 finished a little tough again with only 4 Sails being landed for the the boat. All in all we see this as a good thing considering there was nearly 20 boats working the area with us and only 15 Sails being caught. Very unusual figures for the area considering what can come out of here. Even the skippers on the boats are scratching their heads.... Just heading out now for our final day, hope the switch flicks and the fish come on the chew today.
