24.01.2022 Your Padstow Doctors Plus is STILL OPEN! However, due to the risk of Coronavirus, we are taking all the necessary steps to protect YOU during your visit here! This includes phone consultations for eligible patients, and screening all patients for recent travel or contact with Coronavirus before they enter the waiting room.... We are also screening everyone for contagious cold or flu-like symptoms (sore throat, runny nose, cough, fevers, rash etc.). Any patient with such symptoms will be isolated away from the waiting room in one of our 2 isolation rooms to keep everyone else safe. We apologise for having to ask the above screening questions, however this is the only way to guarantee a safe environment in our practice. 13.01.2022 As of tomorrow, Dr Penelope Aligiannis and Dr Eric Komonen will be offering phone consultations to ALL patients. Phone consultations are preferred for patients ...- who have confirmed Coronavirus - who have been in contact with a person who has confirmed Coronavirus - who have traveled (or any members of the household have traveled) in the past 14 days We also prefer to conduct phone consultations for patients with a cough, cold, fever or runny nose however the clinical team will triage the need for a face to face consultation if needed. Phone consultations are preferred in most cases to protect vulnerable patients who need face to face contact with their GP. 08.01.2022 In light of the Coronavirus Pandemic, to limit the spread of the disease, and to protect the vulnerable, the health authorities have recommended the following patients engage in a telephone consultation with their GP in place of the typical face to face consultation for any health consultation, not necessarily a Coronavirus related concern: - a patient who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 virus but who is not a patient of a hospital; or - a patient who has been required... to isolate themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (ie self quarantine for 14 days for everyone arriving into Australia); or - any patient at least 70 years old, or - any patient at least 50 years old or over if of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or - any patient who is pregnant; or - any patient who is a parent of a child under 12 months; or - any patient who is under treatment for chronic health conditions or who are immune compromised. 04.01.2022 GUESS WHAT ARRIVED THIS MORNING? The 2020 GOVERNMENT FUNDED FLU VACCINES!!! Patients eligible for the FREE influenza vaccine: all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over all children aged 6 months to less than 5 years of age ... all individuals aged 5 years and over with medical risk conditions: pregnant women people aged 65 years and over No appointment necessary. Remember, this only protects against 4 strains of Influenza NOT the common cold or coronavirus. It is NOT a live vaccine, therefore cannot give you the flu. Optimal protection against influenza occurs within the first three to four months following vaccination. This BULK BILLED health assessment is available to new and existing patients over 75 years of age and will help our patients, their families and our medical staff identify and manage concerns related to: - guardianship and other legal matters... - end of life care - safety both in and out of the home - falls and injury risk - nutrition - mental health - cognition - vision and hearing - driving - continence - dental and oral health etc During the health assessment, a thorough physical examination is performed by our multidisciplinary team. Patients will be provided with a copy of the assessment, which will include a detailed list of recommendations including referrals and contact details to services and supports available in the community.
