24.01.2022 Social distancing & self isolation right now is critical. We've seen the closure of schools and further restriction in some Australian states recently. For some of our community this brings fear & overwhelm with it. Which is never great for someone who is struggling day to day already. Firstly let us park any judgment of ourselves or others and have a real conversation.... The truth is many women suffering from burnout struggle in their relationships. They find themselves yelling at their kids, over-reacting with their partners or being a moody co-worker. They find themselves acting & behaving in such a way that they’re not proud of. In fact, when they react they are left feeling guilty and full of shame. Going into home isolation for weeks is impacting thousands of Australians. The clients I’m speaking to are terrified because now they are ‘forced’ to be in each others space 24/7. And it's amplifying the issues. 24.01.2022 Did you know that chronic stress and suppressed emotions can induce similar symptoms to menopause? We see it all the time - women in their 40s or 50s losing their period thinking it will never return. A stressed system can not regulate hormones properly, accounting for crazy irregular periods or complete absence of a bleed. 23.01.2022 As a community of women who struggle with burnout, overwhelm, and stress, I know that many of you experience a crappy immune system. If your children come home from childcare with a runny nose, you’re destined to fall sick. You catch all the germs going around the office.... Or you take a long time to bounce back after a simple cold. Right now, there is so much uncertainty and fear present in our community around COVID_19. It’s a time where we need to be sensible and follow the advice from our Medical Authorities. We can react, pull back in fear and focus on the worse case scenarios. Or we can approach it with an attitude of love or courage, that is aligned with an outcome of healing & good health. This helps us to look for opportunities in the challenge. 18.01.2022 Love that feeling of creative flow! How it charges us up, inspires those around us and allows us to get lost in the moment. 13.01.2022 Is laughter the best medicine? Does shifting our emotional state impact us physically? Absolutely - 100%!... I know I bang on about this - after 15 years of being a doctor, the most profound changes I've witnessed in my clients support why it's important to address our emotional body & the mind body connection. And I've come across another study to support just this. (https://buff.ly/3dpyia4) The researchers compared the effects of laughter yoga with anxiety medication on a group of 60 patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). They found that the laughter yoga group experienced a more significant decrease in IBS symptoms than both the anxiety medication and control groups. Amazing! But for many of you, I'm sure it's no real surprise... The truth is that many practitioners have some appreciation of the mind body connection but fail to really understand & utilise this in healing. It's often an adjunct to treatment that is mostly overlooked. But for our clients, who are supported to reconnect to themselves, access an inner power & better manage their emotions using them as a guiding positive force, achieve phenomenal results that are sustainable and avoid wasted money on diets, supplements & expensive testing. 13.01.2022 Living through a pandemic brings with it a MASSIVE gift. A gift of reflection and an opportunity to reset. Recently I’ve spoken to a number of incredible women who reached out to me as they’re terrified.... Not of the virus. But of NOT expressing themselves fully in this life. That it will be too late to live up to their full potential and before they know it, life has slipped by without them achieving what their heart’s desire most. They describe a knowing that there is something inside them needing to be birthed. That there is more for them to do, to give & experience. And the thing that terrifies them the most, is not knowing how to break free of their current state that holds them back. How to reconnect with themselves & live from the heart with courage. 11.01.2022 My support for Black Lives Matter campaign: I share why our focus on this in Australia is critical for any real gains in closing the gap in Indigenous Health outcomes. It's our collective responsibility (ongoing) to deeply address the hurt & suffering ... And my personal experience of healing my unconscious bias, racism, & prejudice this week. Why all Australians need to seriously take a look inwards - and what we have to gain from it.

04.01.2022 FREEDOM It’s a key value of mine. In the past in burnout, my suffering related strongly to a sense of lack of freedom.... Working in a system misaligned with my values, and believing I had no control over my heath & circumstances, all contributed to pain I was in. The lack of freedom on the inside was real & palpable for me. I had little freedom from the relentless thoughts & I felt heavy. For years, I dealt with this by always looking forward to holidays. I’d sprint through life, ticking off the days, focusing on ‘escaping life’ & travelling whenever I could. For me, there was nothing better than setting off on an adventure without any rules or obligations. The problem was when I came home the feeling of freedom left quickly and before I knew it, I was back to my old way of life. Feeling stuck. Feeling like I was dying on the inside. Wondering why life had to be so serious. Turning to alcohol instead for some 'fun' & relief.... One of the greatest gifts I’ve received from burnout is having absolute clarity over what drives me & what I need to be my best self in the world. Over the years, I’ve given myself full permission to live life from the heart. Sounds so easy, but trust me it’s more difficult than we actually realise. To break the habits we find ourselves in, takes commitment & dedication. But it’s been worth it. Over the past 12 months, claiming my bliss has taken me on such an adventure that fills my heart with absolute joy. I’ve focused on serving women doing transformative work I only dreamt about in medical school. I hung up my stethoscope & became non-practicing as a doctor Sold our house Decided to homeschool Moved to Noosa Hinterland to spend the next 6-12 months living in AirBnB to explore the area Work part-time Spend each day immersed in nature Go deeper with my spiritual practices. It’s not everyone’s version of bliss, but it’s mine. When you get clear on your values, you take a big step towards being empowered in life. We only have one chance at this life, and so it’s really our responsibility to walk to the beat of our drum. When we do this, it’s truly a gift - not just for you & your family, but to the world. 03.01.2022 Who here feels a yearning to create & bring forth something immensely special for the world? But the juggle of motherhood, running a household or caring for others stifles any creative inspiration & energy required for the idea to flourish... When we’re rushing or meeting everyone else’s needs over ours we become depleted. And from this place, it’s near impossible to give the required attention to our ideas & projects.... I’m certain many here will resonate with this article. And it strikes me: it’s not that women haven’t had the talent to make their mark in the world of ideas and art. They’ve never had the time. AND I also wonder: what if we really did do the work to create a world where the sisters of Shakespeare and Mozart, or any woman, really, could thrive? What would happen if we decided women deserved the time to go to their dusky rooms and stay awhile at the kitchen table? What if we all decided to visit more often, drinking a quiet cup of tea with ourselves, listening to the coil of stories as they unspool, knowing they have value simply because they’re true? I’d love to see what happens next. Imagine you had a solution to carving out more time for yourself? Imagine you had the solution to shifting expectations that don’t actually serve you, prioritising your needs & meeting them well (without the guilt) and feeling connected that allows creative ideas & solutions to flow easily?
