25.01.2022 Urgent protection measures are in place after an increase of COVID-19 cases were reported in Queensland. In Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Scenic Rim, Somerset,... Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay, and Redlands, gatherings in peoples homes and outdoors are limited to 10 people. Everywhere else, gatherings in peoples homes and outdoors are limited to 30 people. Venues and events following COVID Safe Industry Plans can continue operating. Visits to aged care and disability accommodation services in Greater Brisbane, Ipswich and surrounds will be limited. Emergency departments will be required to use PPE to treat all patients and hospital visitors will be limited as soon as possible. Please stay safe: maintain social distancing, keep up good hand hygiene and stay home if youre sick. #covid19

23.01.2022 URGENT and IMPORTANT Afternoon everyone Dr Mel here again Just wanted to discuss something important which Im not sure after watching the news recently that is being made particularly clear.... The purpose behind flattening the curve and everyone staying home is not about eradication of this virus but merely about slowing the spread so we dont overwhelm our hospital systems capacity to treat critically unwell patients If we continue to ignore the recommendations and go out in groups we risk spreading the virus amongst the community and we will see an increase in cases The other thing people need to remember is we are only testing returned travellers and direct face to face contacts . We have no actual idea how many people are out there in the community that have this virus as the symptoms are not easy to distinguish for other viral illnesses I put myself and my family at risk everyday I go to work as do my colleagues however if people continue to be foolish tighter restrictions will be brought in. Please its not a cute hashtag to be trendy its a serious message or we will end up like Italy and the USA #stayathome
23.01.2022 Ok ladies and gents Dr Mel here again Weve done a great job staying home to flatten the curve however I am concerned by the trend Im seeing in the clinic and in the community in general that people are ignoring key symptoms - abdominal pain , chest pain , breast symptoms , bleeding from the unmentionables to name a few and these symptoms can potentially mean serious medical conditions (and dont get me started on overdue Pap smears and diabetes screening) Please dont ign...ore new symptoms and concerns ... if you dont want to come in fair enough but at least book an appointment for Telehealth and we can discuss your symptoms and concerns over the phone and make a plan to review your health. The clinic is low risk for face to face and the chances of catching COVID 19 is also low There is no point flattening the curve only to see people dying from preventable diseases

20.01.2022 As most parents with an autistic child will attest, a TANTRUM and a MELTDOWN are NOT the same. And they cant always be approached with the same parenting techn...iques. Tantrums have a defined purpose. A child can choose to end a tantrum when they get what they want, or change their tactic depending on how their parent responds. Meltdowns, on the other hand, are due to sensory overload. They will usually continue DESPITE how we react or whether or not the child gets what they want. This is because in many cases, the child isnt even aware of what they want in the first place. Usually meltdowns end due to exhaustion, or because the environment has changed to one with less sensory information. 14.01.2022 Today is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness day. Metastatic breast cancer is when cancer cells have spread from the original cancer site in the breast to more d...istant parts of the body. It is said that about 6% of women have metastatic breast cancer when they are first diagnosed. (Cancer.net). This is reminder to us all that it is important we are checking our breasts regularly and seeking medical advice early on if you are ever concerned. In view of this very important day, we will be drawing our breast cancer awareness giveaway later on, so stay tuned for that. x

10.01.2022 HOW TO AVOID BACK PAIN WHILE WORKING FROM HOME As we continue to adjust to new and flexible working environments, what is the best way to avoid back pain and in...jury? Posture Plus Poor posture puts stress on your back and can cause upper and middle back pain. - Try to stand or sit tall, keeping your back as straight as possible and balance your weight evenly on both feet. - Dont slump or slouch and keep your shoulders rolled back. - If you spend a lot of time at a computer, at home and at work, make sure the screen is at eye level, never below and not too far away so that you have to reach to it. Be Active No matter your exercise levels, its generally good advice to stay as active as possible to promote back health and reduce the risk of developing problems. - If youre sat at a desk all day, get up and walk around or just shift your sitting posture as often as possible. - Take the stairs where possible. - Gardening, cleaning, and other household activities can help to increase your exercise levels while still being productive De-Stress Stress can make your pain feel worse. Learning ways to reduce your stress may result in reduced pain. You could try deep breathing and relaxation exercises or meditation.
09.01.2022 MENS HEALTH WEEK 2020 All this emphasis on the health of boys and men - whats that about? Theyre alright, arent they? In many cases, the answer is no... Men are less likely to go a doctor, and more likely to take part in a risky activity. They are statistically unlikely to seek help for anxiety or depression, despite increased pressure and uncertainty. As its Mens Health Week, lets start the conversation with the men in our lives and make sure theyre getting all the help and support they need.
08.01.2022 Keep up the good work keeping us all safe . If you have any symptoms please call the practice or your local fever clinic to arrange testing no matter how unlikely you think it is that you have COVID.
08.01.2022 A simple test could save your life but dont rely on it solely if you have symptoms you must talk to your GP as you may still need a colonoscopy even if this test is negative
08.01.2022 Be aware people if anyone has any concerns or symptoms please contact us to get tested ASAP
07.01.2022 Its Red Apple Day for Bowel Cancer Australia! Help us to fill Facebook with red apples today to raise much needed awareness for bowel cancer. Bowel Cancer Aust...ralias apple logo is symbolic of the charitys bowel cancer message: bowel cancer is treatable and beatable if detected early. The outline of Bowel Cancer Australias apple logo appears as an abstract of a human bowel. The small hole in the apple is caused by a worm. If detected early and removed, the worm is unable to continue affecting the apple or the health of the tree. Its the same with people. If bowel cancer is detected early it can be successfully treated in 99% of cases, which means patients and their families can continue to enjoy a healthy life. Help save lives by updating your profile picture and sharing this message with your friends and family for Red Apple Day. #repost from @BowelCancerAustralia For more information or resources head to: https://www.bowelcanceraustralia.org/
