13.01.2022 Keeping ourselves nourished is important to our functioning. We need to feed our body and feed our brain. You wouldn’t run your car without fuel, so don’t expect your body and brain to function without food. Too often I hear people say they don’t take adequate lunch breaks, they’re too busy to stop for lunch. Please take the time to nourish yourself throughout your day. Please take the time to take care of yourself. Stop for a snack whe...n you need one, slow down and sit down to eat your lunch. Do you ever feel hangry? I know I do if I don’t eat regularly. Notice how you feel when you hungry compared to when you are well nourished. Give yourself the gift of nourishment See more

12.01.2022 Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be pres...ent with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity. 07.01.2022 The more we get to know ourselves, the more we can respond to ourselves in helpful ways. Problem is it’s really hard to get to know how we are feeling physically, and emotionally when we are focusing outwards to avoid any discomfort. Focusing outward can seem much easier in the moment, yet in the long run it tends to be much less helpful. With practice and going gently you can learn to focus inwards and get to know yourself more. You ca...n learn to tolerate discomfort and make choices that are more helpful. Practice checking in with yourself regularly throughout your day and ask yourself What am I feeling right now? or What do I need in this moment? Go well and go gently with yourself See more

07.01.2022 What do you think about when you think of movement? Exercising, going for a walk, running, time at the gym? That’s how I used to think and often times I’d start to feel overwhelmed. I live with chronic illness and sometimes large forms of movement are too much for me. Sometimes small forms of movement are too! I have now changed how I think about movement. Movement is so many things. It can be as simple as slowly raising your arms up a few times, dancing in... your lounge room, gently walking around your house or office, or standing up between client sessions and doing a gentle stretch or stretching whilst sitting if needed. When we get caught up in thinking the larger forms of exercise are the only important forms of movement then we miss out on taking care of our bodies and minds in simpler, more manageable ways. If you don’t have time to go for a walk, could you increase the number of times you walk to the kitchen (remember we need to hydrate too) or walk up and down the stairs? If you don’t feel motivated to go to your exercise class, could you put on some music at home and dance like nobody’s watching What are some small ways you can add movement into your day? Let’s share some ideas and help each other out Go well and go gently with yourself See more
