22.01.2022 STOP CMV While we are still getting used to the new way of living amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, it is important to spread education and prevention of CMV during the ‘CMV awareness month’ Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a virus of the Herpes family. It is the most common infection causing congenital malformations at birth. Studies in Australia have shown that 6/1000 infants will have congenital CMV infection and 1-2 of those 6 infants may have permanent disabilities like hearin...g loss, vision loss, small head size, cerebral palsy, developmental delay/intellectual disability and death rarely. Recommendations for Pregnant women to reduce their risk developing baby becoming infected.-Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly especially after close contact with young children, changing nappies, blowing noses, feeding a young child, and handling children’s toys, dummies/soothers, Do not share food, drinks, eating utensils or toothbrushes with young children, Avoid contact with saliva when kissing a child, Using simple detergent and water to clean toys, countertops and other surfaces that come into contact with children’s urine, mucous and secretions. #CMV #awareness #talktoyourobstetrician #drhemagrover #obstetrician #gynaecology #mitchamprivatehospital @ Mitcham Private Hospital

08.01.2022 ‘FROCTOBER’ Frock up to support & help fund ovarian cancer research! More than 1500 women get diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year in Australia, and almost 1000 women die from the disease making it the sixth most cause of cancer related deaths. There is an immense need for research into early diagnosis and treatment of this deadly cancer. Let’s contribute in whatever way we can and try to make a difference! https://www.ocrf.com.au... #frocktober2020 #froctober #ocrf#froctobersoh #supportovarianresearch #obstetriciangynaecologist #mitchamprivatehospital See more

05.01.2022 A BIG shoutout to the families with young children and elderly parents. Are You Ok ? A national day that is dedicated to reminding people, they should be regularly asking others if they are ok? It is important to help and support those who may be struggling with life and other circumstances. It is especially crucial in these times of havoc, where we must remain resilient and unified with each other. Please raise awareness for this beneficial day and ask people are you ok? 05.01.2022 Pregnancy is an emotional time and anxiety is one of the many feelings women experience. Hopefully the current rule that a partner or support person can stay for as long as they wish for labour and birth and after the baby is born helps reducing some anxiety around childbirth during these unprecedented times.

03.01.2022 Facts about stillbirth *The rate of stillbirth in Australia is 6.7 per 1000 births, which means almost 2,200 families lose their baby each year. *Around 20% of stillbirths remain unexplained with almost half of them occurring near full-term. *While stillbirth cannot ne prevented, their incidence can be reduced. Reduce your risk of stillbirth by : ... not smoking or being around people smoking. Sleeping on your side and avoid sleeping on your back from 28 weeks of pregnancy. Being conscious of your baby’s movements and contact your midwife, obstetrician or maternity hospital on the day you are concerned. Do NOT leave it for the next day or morning.
