25.01.2022 Myrtle business meetings don't always involve gin... throwback to a Myrtle meeting at The Fat Goat many moons ago!

24.01.2022 Myrtle hasn't been out for over 6 months now, but that doesn't mean we're sitting on our laurels. While she sunbakes in this glorious Spring day, we're busy plotting coffee world domination (once we're allowed back and about of course)! What's something you've always wished we sold? We'll try to add it to the list!

24.01.2022 It has been 252 days since you could last buy a Myrtle coffee! 252 days!!! When we packed up after our last event on March 1st we had no idea what 2020 had in store for us all; what an absolute toadstool of a year! We are jumping up and down at the thought of being back at Belgrave Big Dreams Market tomorrow, in our usual spot on the lower level. Measures have been taken to make sure the day is safe for everyone, we can't wait to see all our market pals again. It'll be socially distanced air hugs all round ............

22.01.2022 I know not everyone is back at school yet, but all the Myrtle kids are! It's been a funny old year, remote learning was no fun at all, but it was nice to get back some time with the kids that you lose once they start school. This week is full of feelings like 'yay they're back!', and 'yay I hopefully never have to be their school teacher ever again!', and 'oh I miss them!', and, 'geez the house is quiet...' ... Be kind to yourself parents - you deserve for coffee under a blanket to be considered peak productivity. How are you feeling this week?

20.01.2022 These cookies are really special! The first time I tried them they were delivered to us as a care package and were baked by a talented 8 year old, and lemme tell you that we ate SO MANY that first day! There’s a few steps to this, but it’s achievable. Pressing the choc chips in at the end is a genius move and should not be skipped. When you bake them, DO NOT let them brown. Terrible! Eat them warm. Share with your neighbours or eat them all, no judgement from us! They’re really good the next day, so remember this as you’re turbo inhaling them!

19.01.2022 PSEUDONYMS I saw this post and it had me wondering about our customers; do you use a pseudonym? We're hellbent on getting your names right and will ask even for the correct spelling, but there's been times that we've made a complete mockery of your name. And trust me, we feel TERRIBLE!

19.01.2022 Behold the savoury pancake! We're not going to lie, these are classic suburban cafe fare, circa 2002 and we love them! These require a few more ingredients to what we usually post, however we can guarantee that you won't be disappointed! Made smaller they're an excellent snack and made larger and served with a salad make a great dinner option. We've had success substituting a crumbly blue cheese and switching the corn for grated potato, as well as leaving the corn and substit...uting for a milder cheese like gruyere. Feta works well too, substitute corn for grated or mashed sweet potato. The options are endless! Best cooked whilst listening to a 2002 Spotify playlist!

19.01.2022 We're missing making you coffees, but one of the great things about all this time at home is always getting your coffee exactly how you like it. Myrtle's faves at the moment are a filter coffee with a splash of milk, or a soy latte.. What's your go-to at home caffeine fix? ... : @nate_dumlao

18.01.2022 We've hunkered down and hibernated through lockdown, but in honour of the new 25km travel rule, here are 9 of our favourite local businesses within 25km of Myrtle HQ that have powered through and kept bringing the goods through thick and thin: In Upwey we've got: Digging for Fire BBQ Kitchen keeping us fed, Maria Cafe keeping us in coffee and The Fat Goat making our weekends a little better. In Tecoma you can't beat The Railyard for coffee, The Eatery Tecoma for sweet treats..., last minute gifts, and vegie boxes or Chieftains Fine Foods for the best locally made deli spread in the hills. Babaji's Kitchen in Belgrave has been killing it with their EXTREME DELIVERIES of the best South Indian food this side of the Indian Ocean to all over the mountain, And further up the hill Bam Bam Italian have been making sure all Emeraldites are well stocked with amazing wine and pantry supplies as well as making the best pizzas you'll ever eat, and Incy Wincy are single-handedly responsible for keeping families together with the promise of Tuesday donuts. We really are so lucky in the hills!

18.01.2022 We've got a busy month ahead and it feels SO GOOD Yay for socialising, and people, and socially-distanced partying! We've got a few private events on, but if *you* want to be caffeinated by the best lil coffee van around, you'll have to come to Belgrave Big Dreams Market on the 14th (we'll be on the lower level), or come hang out for the weekend with us at Sheilas Shakedown, on from the 19th-21st at Phoenix Park, Ballan, where we'll be slinging coffees and adult beverages all weekend

17.01.2022 Spring is here so it's time to start churning out the cold drinks! We're huge fans of loose leaf chai, as you know, but we've found it's not the most practical thing if we're handling 200 drinks and hour at a festival - behold, THE ULTIMATE EASY ICED CHAI! We've been serving Grounded Pleasures Seven Spice Chai since the beginning. It's delicious, full of real food ingredients, vegan, and so versatile. As well as being yummy as a latte, or added to your favourite cookie or bro...wnie recipe, it also makes a scrumptious iced chai. You can used any icecream and milk you like with this, meaning it's completely vegan-friendly too. What are you waiting for, get on it, people!

16.01.2022 It's around that time of year that we usually start putting in orders to stock up and get organised for our favourite annual event, @theboogaloo_ .. It's not happening this year for obvious reasons, but we'll crank some music, rev some engines, have a few espresso martinis, and pretend we're there anyway. ... : @crcooperphoto

15.01.2022 We cannot deny that we're citrus lovers and these lemon coconut balls do not disappoint! These little balls are quick and easy and require very little preparation and clean up. We usually add two lemons of zest and a very small crack of salt. These will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days, though ours never keep that long!

15.01.2022 Time for another throwback to 2017... you know what's waaaaay outside Myrtle's 5km zone? The beach! I'm missing beach and river walks, though we're very lucky in the Hills to have beautiful bushwalking locally. What are you missing that you can't get inside your lockdown bubble? ... Let us know in the comments!

15.01.2022 COCONUT CAKES - we love recipes like this! These coconut cakes are very adaptable and another one-bowl wonder! This recipe is super easy to throw together, is very easy to make vegan or gluten free and you can add whatever you like to it! Our fave is frozen blueberries and some lemon zest!

13.01.2022 Nawwww throwback to our first ever event, September 2017, Grassroots Market

13.01.2022 You know what one of the hardest things about the current situation as a small business owner is? Not seeing our suppliers on the regular. Over the years they become part of your Coffee Van DNA, their choices and direction shape your own little biz. They know your regular order and check in when things change, not only out of commercial interest, but because they genuinely care. ... Top of our list, without whom we wouldn't be nearly as awesome, is @griffithsbros . We know it can't be too long until one of their vans is bringing us beans again so we can get out there and share the love, until that time you can get your fix at www.griffithsbros.com.au

12.01.2022 In the true spirit of keeping you all sane by way of delicious recipes, we thought that sharing another delight was the way to go.... Behold the salted caramel spread! A buttery, schmeary spread that can be warmed to go atop your ice-cream, slathered on pancakes, eaten out of the jar (hey, no judgement here!) and most importantly, the hardest part of this recipe is waiting for it to cool down! This recipe is tried and tested and one that we've adapted as we went along. It will make a jam jars worth. I've not ever vegan-ed this recipe, so if you have a tested vegan version, post it below!

12.01.2022 To celebrate our return to caffeinating the community, our first 50 (or so... depends on how munchy we feel in the morning ) customers will get a free brownie bite with their coffee. This is our mountain-renowned, hills-famous brownie recipe, back for one day only tomorrow at Belgrave Big Dreams Market

11.01.2022 Apple pie warms the heart We love these apple pie jaffles. You can make your own filling or use canned. Some add sultanas or choc chips to mix it up, or even perhaps blueberries. This is so adaptable, easy and delish!

10.01.2022 Happy Friday! May your day be as joyful as these slabs of @marshmallowclub marshmallows!

10.01.2022 It's been a long time between coffees! We're whetting the whistle at a private job today after an 8 month haitus, getting ourselves ready for Belgrave Big Dreams Market this weekend. It feel so good to be back behind a coffee machine! Yassssss! ... | image is a shiny grey coffee trailer parked infront of a shiny new building, the sun is out and it's a glorious day |

08.01.2022 When 2020 gives you lemons, make LEMONADE! The cool front today has us dreaming of last week's warm weather and slow afternoons in the sunshine with friends. This recipe is best made with super-ripe homegrown lemons, if using shop lemons increase the ratio of sugar syrup:juice. Shop lemons tend not to be as sweet!... We like our lemonade cheek-puckeringly tart, served over ice with some sneaky gin.. tastes like summer! See more

06.01.2022 The first day of Remote Learning 2.0 really deserves a delicious and easy to make cupcake! This cupcake calls on pantry staples, is very adaptable and kid-friendly! Best eaten warm with a good cup of tea! Remote Learning 2.0... we've got this!

06.01.2022 Well, it looks like it'll be a while longer until we're out and about again! As Melbourne heads into Stage 4 lockdown, keep an eye on our socials for more activities and recipes to keep you busy at home. Don't forget to reach out to your people and make sure they're ok. The world is odd right now, but we've got this! |2017 throwback photo by @schlaughts from when the world was less weird and the coffees flowed freely|

05.01.2022 There's real *science behind the benefits to consuming puff pastry schmeared with buttery, sugary goodness! Because, carbs and sugar. This is another super simple recipe to do with the kids using ingredients that you probably have on hand. Make sure that you eat them straight out of the oven alongside a really good cup of tea! ... *whilst we couldn’t find any actual science to support this, we just know that its true!

05.01.2022 Do you have a lockdown hot beverage routine? Ours looks like: AM coffee AM coffee... PM tea PM tea PM a warming chai We love a chai nightcap but some supermarket blends are a bit naff. So we've taken to making our own! This is a lovely spicy blend thanks to the ginger, and the sugar can be modified up or down. If you don't have coconut sugar, raw sugar can be substituted for the same amounts, though will change the taste slightly. You can also vary this recipe in your cup, I like a small crack of pepper and 0.25 teaspoon vanilla essence. ENJOY!

04.01.2022 It's Sunday evening, which means at a stretch we can start saying Sheilas Shakedown is 'next week' Phoenix Park, Ballan from the 19th-21st Feb; are you going to be there? We can't wait to feature in the background of this year's shenanigans.. we'll be serving the usual fare and breakfast each day, and from 4-10pm on Friday AND Saturday night we'll be dishing out the espresso martinis and other grown-up bevvies!... #soflippingexcited : @shannynhiggins

03.01.2022 Don't mind us, we're just over here daydreaming of warm weather and party vibes.. How are you spending this chilly Saturday? Warm drinks and movies on the couch sound good right now. Come back Summer!

03.01.2022 I'm not going to lie... I could really go a Butterbing Cookie Sandwiches right now!
