19.01.2022 How would you like a job where you make kids giggle and smile for a living? Imagine taking a boring school day and in one hour filling it with so much excitement they will not stop talking about it. Imagine not being able to think of a better way to spend a precious hour of your life and then getting paid for it. Imagine being a kids entertainer. Wooohooo.

18.01.2022 WE DID IT !!! Perth City Magic is over. 52 shows in 13 days. 300 seat theatre with mostly full houses (some even had a few extra) so around 15,500 people. One of the biggest magic events ever held in WA. Thank you to the City of Perth and the Australian Performing Arts Network.

18.01.2022 Silly Season Scorcher. Well the silly season is apon us here in Perth and for some of us entertainers that means up to 5 or more gigs a day. Temperatures over the last couple of days have been 39 degrees on Friday, 40.4 on Saturday and 37 on Sunday. Todays forecast is 37 again. Some poor guys are out there in Santa suits and some of us are in a tail coat with a waistcoat and bow tie. My rabbit is an Angora so he has the equivalent of a thick fur coat on. In the back of my c...ar is a fridge which is mostly full of ice blocks and cold water. The ice blocks are to go in the rabbits and birds cages and the equipment they are in during the show to cool them down. The water is to pour over the cloth cover of the cages to keep them cool while it evaporates. In the front of the car in a styrene box are the lollies otherwise they melt into a single glob of multi-coloured gelatine. When you arrive you notice the prismatic foil on your props is curling at the corners because the glue is melting so you quickly flatten it down as best you can. Finally you do the 45 minutes of giggles and wows and quickly pack up to get to your next one hoping there will be parking and you can find the person in charge. On the way you answer the phone in the car and talk to a client who has a last minute booking and wants to know if you can give them a discount. If only they knew... See more

17.01.2022 I did a couple of shows at a festival today and I found out the lady who booked me had tracked me down as this was the first time she had run a festival and I had been the entertainment at her fourth birthday. She really did look like she was reliving that day as she watched those kids giggle today. Luv my job some days.

16.01.2022 Share a hug for Christmas. When I was growing up for whatever reason my family was not very huggy. We got a quick squeeze here or there but never really just hugged. To some degree I guess thats why I became good at entertaining people. Its a way of giving and getting affection without really ever touching anyone. It was not till I was in my forties that I shared something with a friend one day and she said give me a hug and of course I did my usual quick squeeze and went to... pull away but she said hey come back here thats not a hug. She held me for a couple of minutes and after a little while I felt uncomfortable then relaxed and suddenly the penny dropped and I got what a genuine hug was all about. Its a great feeling to know someone cares and wants you to really know that. So this Christmas make sure you give people real hugs. Hold them till they wriggle like a puppy when you hug it too long. There arent a lot of presents that will mean more than that. Have a really merry Christmas. See more

15.01.2022 Hi everyone its time for me to reach out and ask you for some help. As you know letting people know about the shows is a really important part of providing great entertainment for kids. Im looking for some comments and reviews so others get an idea of what your experiences are like with my shows. There are two links below which lead to a couple of my online profiles and I would love it if you would write a comment (perhaps in notepad like Im doing) then just paste it into the comments section on each. Thanks so much, Mr Jim. http://www.kidspot.com.au//The-Amazing-Mr-Jim-Co/Perth.htm http://www.kidspot.com.au//The-Amazing-Mr-Jim-Co/Perth.htm

13.01.2022 I got this really nice bit of feedback from a show I did on the weekend. How lucky are we as kids entertainers to be able to go to work and have this sort of impact? Dear James, WOW! I had a feeling you were going to be good but you exceeded my expectations. Not only are you a talented magician, you are a gifted comic bridging the gap between levels of humour accessible by adults and children and in an appropriate way that subtly educates as well. ... Most of all I thought you dealt with some of the more complex personalities beautifully and with a direct yet tender approach; acknowledging those most would put aside and giving them their moment, which is all theyre looking for. You get kids Mr Jim and they get you! What fun. I wont forget and will be sure to share although I dont do Facebook! You can quote me from this email though. You delivered value for money off the charts. Wouldve tipped you if I couldve-lots!!! AWESOME!

04.01.2022 Hi Drippy Dragon Fans. Just a reminder that I now post all things Mr Jim at www.facebook.com/amazingmrjim . Thanks everyone.

04.01.2022 You often see the advice to be grateful for your life in order to bring more happiness and success. I often think we get very disconnected from how good a life we magicians have compared to so many other occupations. The struggle to get the big Vegas gig etc overshadows the huge achievement of being a successful and respected local entertainer. There was a magician and ventriloquist here in Perth in the 20s to 50,s called Uncle Arthur. He is all but forgotten now but I have heard his name many times over the years as older people have shared the joy his shows gave them. When they compare me to him and say Ive recreated those memories I get reminded of the difference I am making in the world and what a great gift it is to be able to be a local hero in the world of entertainment.

03.01.2022 If you are looking for something nice to do with the kids today this should be fun.
