Much to the e...xcitement of students, Mr Gosling stepped up to tackle the course. Students were surprised to observe no change in heart rate from Mr Gosling who remained calm and composed during his experience. 18.01.2022 School Cross Country was held this morning at Dripstone Middle School. This year it's being run a little bit different, staggering start times of each year level throughout the morning. --- YEAR 8 : First up this morning was Year 8. When the front runners approached the finish line, it was a battle between Pedro and Aiden. The lead changed 3 times in the last 100 metres. Pedro from House Carpentaria snatched the victory by a single stride.... The first girl across the line was Imogen from House Alexandra, who dominated the rest of the field. --- YEAR 7 : Year 7 was next to compete, with over 100 students participating. Jarius from House Carpentaria sprinted out to an early lead. Some doubted weather he'd be able to keep up such a fast pace for the whole race. When the leaders rounded the final bend towards the finish line, there he was with a commanding lead. Congratulations Jarius for the overall win. The first Year 7 girl to finish was Island-Bleu also from House Carpentaria. She completed the race with a strong finish which helped her achieve 2nd place overall behind Jarius. --- YEAR 9 : After recess it was Year 9's turn to run the course. Strategy played a big role at the start line, with some runners competing heavily for an early lead. But it was Marcellus from House Carpentaria that was able to maintain a solid speed throughout the whole race and achieve overall victory. Angeline representing House Phoenix put in a heap of effort to be the first girl overall in Year 9.
