24.01.2022 How car guys protect themselves...............

24.01.2022 We know that in each of us is an inner strength that can get us through hard times. The problem is that when hard times weigh down on us so significantly for extended periods of time, we become depleted and exhausted, both physically and mentally. Our bodies need time in a "rest and digest" state rather than sustained "fight or flight", and we need an extra load of the good stuff in terms of nutrition and nourishment during times of extended challenge. The problem is right ...now lunch often looks and and the mental capacity to think about what foods will nourish and support seems out of reach, even knowing that simple smart food choices are going to create a better mental state. Enter DAD Nutritionist Alison Tehan. Alison reminds us that "eating for our mental health is always important and as we cope with living in an extended lockdown period it can see us turning to more comfort eating and foods that may not serve us long term. As our gut health is directly linked to our mental health and our ability to cope with stress, supplying our gut with foods that nourish our body and that will decrease inflammation is essential. While therapy and medications for stress and anxiety are often necessary, food also plays a significant role in influencing our mood and well-being." As I scrolled through Instagram as a monetary escape I spied another plate of delicious morsels shared by Alison on her page @alitehan_nutritionist. Right away I thought, "gosh I want that". Thankfully a little further reading explained to me that with Alison's guidance over 10 days I can , and so can you. That feeling of positivity and opportunity for change crept in. We want to share that with you. "Most of the key nutrients needed for our brain health are found naturally in foods which is one of the reasons I have created the 10 Day Spring Cleanse. The cleanse is designed to help people reconnect with eating real food consistently that will nourish their bodies as well as improve their energy and wellbeing. It is run in a supportive and safe way to guide you to eat more real and seasonal wholefoods that will leave you feeling happier with more energy and vitality." We're jumping into 10 Day Spring Cleanse from Monday 5th October as a way to boost what our bodies are craving and bust some of the mental fog that's getting harder to shift in these difficult times. We invite you to join us using delicious nutrition to support mental wellness and do the best we can with what we can control. https://alisontehan.com/10-day-spring-cleanse/

19.01.2022 Its a pricey Hobby

19.01.2022 It's concerning that people still think that seeking help for mental health issues is a sign of weakness. Thankfully Jed (below) stood up for himself in the best way possible: By acknowledging his challenges. https://bit.ly/3c3epGv

19.01.2022 @my111r never stops shooting for us!

19.01.2022 We've been chatting with Colin Crane, a DAD friend and Captain of Aussie Torana Legends (Social Cruisers). He's coordinated a super human bushfire relief effort in the last week, now he's going a step further with this mammoth fire appeal cruise. Sunday 19th January Meeting at BP Officer outbound on Pakenham Bypass All welcome... Any/all cars and bikes welcome We're asking everyone to bring along a donation, the list from the organisers is in the comments. Please share far and wide, this will be a massive day in support of communities in so much need. https://facebook.com/events/s/fire-relief-cruise-run/536484586941455/?ti=cl

18.01.2022 I'll stay out of the commentary around our current global situation. But I want you to look out for the ones you love. The repercussions of this situation will ...impact far more people than the illness will. If you have family or friends with challenging mental health histories, please ensure they are feeling connected and supported. And if you start feeling the pinch, there are a lot of support services out there. Lifeline in particular.

18.01.2022 #26 of 30 Australian 'F1 Limited Edition' Renault Sport Clio Cup 182s with just over 170,000km on the clock. Belts done late-2016. Owned since early-2017. One t...rack day in that time; mostly used for driving with mates and for my charity, Drive Against Depression. This car helped me through a tough time in life, so I want it to go to a good home. It's been serviced by Renault specialists in my hands and before my time, mostly with Virage Motors. Upgraded brakes with slotted front and new rear rotors, braided lines and Ferodo pads. DOT 4 fluid. RE003 Bridgestone Potenza (have seen better days but still grip well even in wet). Whiteline rear ARB. Camber bolts. Powerflex exhaust hangars. Foglights removed (still have them) for brake cooling - see pics for ducts that went in. Brakes that last are always gold. Headlight washers removed (still have them) and carbon inserts installed. (A carbon fetish thing.) Acoustic valve removed (still have it), retained stock air feeds into air box. K and N filter. Nicer inlet sound. Air con regassed late 2019. It had been pressed into daily driver duty over the last three months or so. So you can see a mark in the rear seat where a kid's seat sat! I have the engine cover still though I reckon it looks better without! Also have a set of six 172 15-inch alloys to include if desired. /Challenges Driver's window currently slides directly into door when pressed down - needs new guide I think. Missing rear parcel shelf and rear wheel well trims. Stripes have seen better days, and small paint chips can be seen on bonnet and mirror caps. /Verdict Still an absolute hoot to drive. Asking $6500 ONO. Located Mornington Peninsula. Have books and receipts from my ownership. Contact me on ads027 at gmail dot com in the first instance. Have fun, guys. Adam

16.01.2022 Today we have a double day to bring forward important conversations - R U OK Day and World Suicide Prevention Day. DAD is all about connecting, starting conversations then finding the pathway to help. R U OK Day helps step us through starting those conversations and reminds us to: 1. Check in and ask R U OK?. Don't be afraid if you think the answer might be "no". ... 2. Listen. It's okay not to have the answers, listening is so important. "That's tough. Keep talking, I'm listening." 3. Encourage action. "What can I do right now to support you?" "Is there something you know that helps you feel better that you could do now?" 4. Check in. "Hey, how have you been since we last chatted?". Sometimes even when we know things aren't right we're just not ready to talk, maybe this is true of yourself or a mate. When asking R U OK remind your mate that you're always around when they're ready to talk and for yourself, always know that reaching out is so important. If you're not ready to talk to someone you know, Lifeline is around 24/7 on 13 11 14, no matter what's on your mind. There's no doubt that the situation we're in this year has put immense pressure on mental health and complicated existing mental health conditions. Sometimes you might feel like you're rocking life and all the balls are in the air, sometimes the balls come crashing down and it's hard to imagine how you'll ever pick them up again. It's okay for one day to be different to the next, and it's okay to not be okay. There's nothing normal about the circumstances we're living in and it's okay to not be coping well. Whatever stage you're at please know that there are people around for you - mates, the DAD community, the DAD Mental Wellness Network practitioners, your GP and Lifeline, to name a few. Please take today to reach out and ask R U OK - it's the conversation that could change a life.

15.01.2022 The overwhelm is real, but you're not alone. Please reach out if you need support.

15.01.2022 Director DJ, his gorgeous 911 and those gloves. This makes us happy :)

14.01.2022 Ready to rock with the @lotus_cars_australia Elise Cup 250 on our first drive day of 2020! @custcarscoffee

14.01.2022 This is the only track we're hitting today, and it's on foot rather than in a car. Like so many others who've celebrated differently, today DAD celebrates it's third birthday. Among the difficulties and uncertainties it's important to pause to recognise milestones. ... This year has been different for DAD, and one that we certainly couldn't have planned. At a time when our community needs a mental health outlet more than ever we're restricted doing what gives us that release. It's so important to find what outlets we can and take in fresh air whenever possible. We're not sure what DAD activities will look like for the remainder of 2020, and indeed into 2021, but we are still here, working, planning, dreaming a bit too. Please remember - you're not alone. Lifeline is available 24/7 on 13 11 14. Our DAD Mental Wellness Network practitioners are available too: - Dr. Doug Blomeley with psychiatry services - Alison Tehan with nutrition and wellbeing - Jacqui Howson with naturopathic medicine Happy birthday to DAD and many thanks to all who have been part of the journey so far. Hopefully we will be out driving again soon.

13.01.2022 The vital importance of what we are achieving with our DAD community was further reinforced last week when Adam visited Winton Motor Raceway for a chat with Benalla Auto Club Inc CEO Chris Lewis-Williams. In presenting us with an impressively-sized (in scale and figure) cheque, we were once more truly humbled and excited by the prospects of 2020, thanks to people who simply get what we are about and want to help each other. It's a pretty awesome feeling.

13.01.2022 We're dusting ourselves off from all that 2020 challenged us with and starting 2021 the best way we know how - with a cruise. DAD's summer drive takes us back to our roots and what we do best, offering our community a relaxed drive with great company and epic roads. Hit up our website for more details.

12.01.2022 Hi everyone. A new blog's live on the website - looking back at 2019 as something of a dream for Victorians, while hoping to return to that normal in 2021. At the core of it? Driving and mateship. Of course. https://bit.ly/35gZsxn

12.01.2022 The latest edition of Driven Women Magazine has just hit the inbox, and we're already enjoying the read and living vicariously through the stories. This beautiful mag was conceived in a world before COVID-19, it's a celebration of women involved in Grassroots Motoring and Motorsport. This issue features an interview with Linda who drove solo around Australia in a Tesla Model S plus interviews with some of the women who drove across Australia in the Shitbox Rally.... There's a review of the modern version of the original grassroots family car, the Volvo V60 T5 Inscription and to finish up, the Australasian launch of the Ferrari F8 Spider. We hope this issue takes your mind off the current situation for a little while, especially those experiencing harsh lockdown situations. We're proud to be the Driven Women Magazine charity partner, you can purchase your copy via the app or on Pocketmags https://drivenwomenmag.com/shop/ We hope you love the content, and another opportunity to support Australian small business and motoring.

12.01.2022 Road tripping to Winton Raceway in the ALPINA Automobiles Australia XD3. 12.01.2022 As we look forward to brighter and warmer days we're watching with keen interest as the Great Tarmac Rally plans come together for October 2020. You might remember that last season DAD was the charity partner for the Australian Tarmac Rally, and all the fun that came with it. We were privileged to provide some of the support vehicles and expert driver training (we'll never forget sharing Mount Baw Baw Sprint with Australian rally champ Brendan Reeves) and brought a whole bu...nch of the DAD community to experience the thrills. This time round it's Track & Tarmac who will be working with the Tour category and bringing this cracker event to you so if you're ready to hit the open roads with great people, now's your chance to get among it. What's this Tour category, you may ask? It's you driving your own car on some of Victoria's best driving roads, while the roads are closed as rally stages. There's a Tour leader to set the pace and a bunch of excellent people with whom to share this truly exciting event. Past rally or race experience isn't necessary, the Tour is designed in such a way that it's perfect for new drivers and road cars. There's no pressure to keep up but plenty of opportunity to get among the rally fun. If you'd like to know more please contact Matt Brogan at Track & Tarmac (that's him in the fab MX-5 pictured below) for further details. Niko French Media

12.01.2022 When we're on the other side of this weirdness, where's your first drive going to be?

12.01.2022 Looking good! Wait until you see the cheque!

11.01.2022 Mental illnesses come in all shapes and sizes, just like our jobs. Thats why we take the time to learn about job seekers to match them with the right employers. We are here to connect with job seekers over the phone or online. Our services are 100% free.

11.01.2022 Social distancing is the name of the game right now as we face these new challenges in our world. DAD advocates for connection and open conversations about mental health and our general format for this is getting together for a great drive. While we've been watching the virus situation unfold we've been reassessing and adapting how we can still offer our services to the DAD community who gain so many positives for their mental health from going for a drive, solo or otherwis...e. We started with a reduced calendar of events, then smaller groups, then "contactless" check in, then an electronic drive route everyone could follow and a common chat channel and as we continued to evolve our ideas, the landscape has changed again. We're dedicated to finding a solution that offers at least some of the benefits of connecting and driving, even if we can't go with the usual format. What that looks like is a work in progress while we're cautious not to be promoting activities outside the government restrictions. That brings up all sorts of thoughts and challenges for us personally and for DAD, as I'm sure it does for you, but right now what needs to be the primary consideration is looking after everyone's welfare in the most practical way possible. The chats and supports in the FB DAD Group have been really positive and encouraging, and we're proud as ever by the way our community share resources and tips for coping, especially in these strange times. If you'd like to join the discussion group use this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/145168942864815/ We know you'll understand, but wanted to pop in here and let you know where we're at. It's been a while between post as we try to keep up. As always if you'e struggling or the isolation is getting to you please reach out with a call or video chat with a mate, or call Lifeline anytime on 13 11 14. Big thanks to DAD's photographer Niko French Media for this great shot from our Custom Cars and Coffee Melbourne Charity Cruise earlier this year. How ace is this pic of the FPV GT Community?

09.01.2022 Reflecting on an absolutely cracking day with a few sneak early pics from @nikofrenchmedia. Stellar drive, brilliant group of people, perfect weather. Humbled and encouraged by our community. More to come after our second annual drive with Custom Cars and Coffee Melbourne, what a day we've had.

08.01.2022 Connecting you with the right help When you need support: > Reach out to a mate to let them know what's going on and that you need support. ... > Call the experts at Lifeline on 13 11 14. Available 24/7. Nothing's too big or too small. > Contact DAD's partnered psychiatrist, Dr. Doug Blomeley on 1300 617 685 for an appointment. Dr. Doug offers phone/Skype services if you're out of his area. > If you or someone you know is in an emergency situation please call 000. Drive Against Depression offers community events to provide support and connection with others. Through our Mental Wellness Network we're putting together a holistic range of mental health practitioners so we can offer different pathways to help. The organisers at DAD aren't mental health practitioners, crisis support or an emergency service.

08.01.2022 Looking after people’s mental health and wellbeing is more important now than ever before, but because of the lockdown situation in Victoria, our opportunities to create social drives and other environments for people to connect have been extremely limited. A quote from co-founder Sarah on the challenges 2020 has brought. You can see the full article (thanks to our incredible partners @aasalliance) on the AASA website!

07.01.2022 It's been a long time since we all hung around chatting cars and enjoying a drive together. Too long, right? Flicking back through our website galleries reminds us how much fun we've had and how valuable it is to connect...and how much we miss that. As with so many others, our best laid plans for 2020 have been long forgotten. The constant need to adapt and try to find some semblance of normalcy in these very weird times is exhausting to say the least, and at a time when l...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Very cool table setting! Were very humbled by all the sponsors who have donated goods for our charity auction.

07.01.2022 Dreaming of blue skies and helping each other out in person :)

07.01.2022 Like so many others, we're still processing the announcements made yesterday regarding the continuation of heavy restrictions in Victoria. Not just working through the logistical implications for work and family, but the mental and emotional implications too. As we all held our breath this isn't the news we wanted to hear. We know that everyone is having a myriad of reactions to what this means for them. It's hard, there's no denying that, and it's okay to be feeling the wei...ght and sadness of the situation. Whatever you're feeling it's valid and you're not alone. R U OK Day is coming up this Thursday, but it's important to check in more regularly. Check in with yourself, notice how you're feeling, allow space for yourself to be feeling whatever's going on for you and know that it's okay. Reach out to a mate, your health professional, one of the DAD Mental Wellness Network practitioners or Lifeline on 13 11 14 any time you're ready to chat. Reach out to a mate and ask how they're going. It's so important that we look out for each other, and it's important for us to stay connected to others too. It's so easy to focus on the difficult or troubling things that are going on around us, especially when there are so many right now. Don't forget it's really important to also highlight the positives around you and know that there's always something light even in dark days. We're trying to choose something at the beginning and end of each day that went well, that we're proud of, that made us smile or that was positive, and we invite you to do the same. Even the smallest win counts. Niko French Media

06.01.2022 James Wong spreading the love.

05.01.2022 If Christmas isn't what makes you happy, that's okay. Self care is especially important at this time of year - for you maybe that means doing something small, something big or nothing at all. If you're waiting for Christmas to just come and go we wish you peace, and remind you that there's always someone around if you need it. Reach out to a mate, go for a drive (please be safe out there) and know you can call Lifeline at any time on 13 11 14. Check in on mates and we look ...forward to diving with you again in 2020. We sincerely thank you for your support this year. We do what we do to support mental wellness through the freedom of driving, and we're proud to be able to offer connections through our community. Our very best wishes for a safe Christmas. The DAD Crew

03.01.2022 Hello all, we hope you are enjoying this resurgent burst of late-autumn sunshine (in Victoria, at least). To say the last few weeks have been challenging is an understatement. But I want you to know that we are still here for you. There have been several fantastic suggestions about how we can reconnect, live and face to face, in the coming weeks.... As a board we will put our heads together and create some upcoming events. Any feedback or suggestions are welcomed - just pop in a comment below. In the meantime, show us a pic of what you've been up to with your cars as restrictions have eased :) As for me (Adam), the Clio needed a refresh in the last couple of weeks. I had put it up for sale but realised there were a few RWC items required, that were missed by a previous inspection... Thankfully, the safety issues have been corrected, and the plus side is it received a second hand KTEC exhaust (the old exhaust had rotted through in parts). It now drives better than ever and I'm glad it's still with me - it inspired this whole thing in the first place. 03.01.2022 We cant deny it; 2019 has been a massively challenging year. But were here... and so thankful for the BACs support into 2020. We have some strong ideas on how to benefit the DAD community and the rural communities next year.

02.01.2022 It was such a pleasure to chat with Emily at JOY 94.9 about why DAD came about. As we emerge from lockdown, winter and the toughest year we've faced yet, we're so grateful for the opportunity to share DAD's mental wellness mission and get back into the community again. https://joy.org.au///sarah-davis-drive-against-depression/

02.01.2022 Prime position at the 2019 Benalla Auto Club Gala Dinner! Tonight we are introducing our charity partnership with the BAC for 2020. Benalla Auto Club Inc Winton Motor Raceway
