23.01.2022 Is your organisation participating in the Around the Bay ride on 8 Oct? Why not schedule a day of bike cleaning at work to get all the riders ready for the day? https://www.bicyclenetwork.com.au/rides-and/around-the-bay/

23.01.2022 Summer Bike of the Month.... The BOM recognises the coolest bikes from DriveClean customers. But given the holiday break and fewer site visits during this time, he BOM has become the BOS - bike of the season DriveClean customers can show-off some great pics of their bike on this post and at the end of the season, we will choose the BOS. Besides glory, that person also gets a free bike cleaning.

23.01.2022 Is your chain worn? Something a bit techy that we check with every tuning but can also be done at home In summary: 1) Chains wear out and there are several different factors impacting how quickly, the most important of which is general cleaning and lubing... 2) Replacing chains at the right time can save you from having to replace more expensive parts https://cyclingtips.com//bicycle-chain-wear-and-checking-/

23.01.2022 DriveClean is once again supporting the Autumn Cycling Classic @ La Trobe University on 13 April. This event integrates cycling into the city by holding races for juniors, seniors and elites as well as coached introductory sessions for recreational riders interested in racing. A major focus this year is on educating participants about mental health and well-being. It is about strengthening the cycling culture in Melbourne. DriveClean has been a driving force in both cre...ating the idea and making this event happening. http://www.northerncombinecycling.org/index./46-hracing/603

22.01.2022 DriveClean (Peter) is proud to be supporting this event serving as the race director. Alf had a tremendous impact on Melbourne and Australian cycling over the past 70 years.

21.01.2022 Reposting my own video! It was awesome being part of the Austral event at Hisense on Saturday driving the motorbike for the keirins. There are so many talented people coming from/ to Melbourne.

21.01.2022 Spring Cleaning This weekend my partners bike received its quarterly cleaning. Even though it had been ridden through winter in all conditions, the whole bike cleaned amazingly well - drive train is now spotless with the chain still in good condition. It was easy to clean and still riding well because it had been cleaned and lubed before winter, so it only needed to be wiped down. Basic regular maintenance really does work and makes riding more fun... So, make sure to wipe down and lube your chain as spring weather graces Melbourne. Or just book in with DriveClean!!

17.01.2022 Check out Catalyst this week as average Joe (and DriveClean customer) Shalin Naik shows you how learnings at the Australian Institute of Sports can be applied to your own exercise. http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4744348.htm

16.01.2022 Lights! As we get into the darker months, lighting on your bike becomes even more important - though riding with lights on during the day makes you safer too. Lights are especially important as the daylight is changing during your commute home. There are lots of lights out there and it gets confusing. As a general rule, we highly recommend USB rechargeable functionality on blinker mode (in most settings) and don't spend less than $25 per light. ... knog is a Melbourne based company that makes great products. Over the years we have found their commitment to good service and their product innovation to be awesome. We haven't been paid for this, their stuff is really good and they are local. https://www.knog.com.au/

16.01.2022 An interesting new benefit from DriveClean client Swisse replicating a U.K. Scheme Why do cars get preferred tax treatment through salary sacrifice? Why aren't we using tax breaks to encourage more people to ride which benefits health and traffic congestion? https://swisse.com/en-au/ridetowork

15.01.2022 Another great 2 weeks of bike tuning at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute. It's a fantastic environment working there - not only do they have fleet bikes for staff use, but nearly everybody who walks by is smiling

15.01.2022 Had a good day visiting The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity and spreading the word of clean bikes with their Bicycle Users Group. Learned some valuable info during the contractor induction - it's best not to wander into any labs and definitely don't lick anything around the building. Good luck to all the honours students handing in their thesises (?) today.

15.01.2022 Let's see, I need to be at the Whittlesea Challenge at 6:30 to set-up. That means I need to get up before 5. I just had a 2 hour nap after commissairing on the motorbike for most of today, which means.... The things I do to spread the word of clean bikes

10.01.2022 Was great spending the day at Swisse in Collingwood last week. Aligning with their philosophy of healthy lives, the company sponsors free tune-ups for the team, which is naturally very popular. And one must say the team have good eyes for bikes, one example below. Since installing new bike storage facilities and offering the tune-ups, riding to work has increased dramatically and they now are plannng even more storage space!

10.01.2022 Spent some time this week with Pista Bikes in South Yarra building up a fresh shipment of these hot new releases (taking one home for myself in the process) The Focus Planet is designed for urban commuting. Belt drive (no greasy chain), 8 speed internal gears, dynamo hub to power the built-in front and rear lights, slim line pannier, mud guards and hydraulic disc brakes - all standard. Well worth a look!

10.01.2022 We are looking forward to joining the launch of a new bike station (and watching the unicycles) tomorrow at Preston Library. DriveClean will be on hand doing some bike safety checks for the kids and demonstrating how to use the new repair station.

08.01.2022 Not the best photo ever, but that's Peter driving the motorbike for the National Junior Track Series in Melbourne last weekend. It's great that not only do the kids get the support from the local bike clubs, Cycling Victoria and Cycling Australia, but with facilities such as DISC in Thornbury, these kids will graduate to riding on the road with confidence and a love of cycling. As an aside, Peter escaped with minor scratches after a crash during warm-up as he figured out how to handle the heavy motorbike on a 45 degree angle track at slow speeds for the kids. Answer - get a smaller motorbike

08.01.2022 DriveClean is proud to support the Autumn Cycling Classic @ La Trobe University on 19 May by Northern Combine Cycling - Official. This is a new event that is connecting grass roots cycling with the University community - it is integrating cycling into the Melbourne landscape. On the day, there is a free bike maintenance workshop, presentations from the Victorian Police about preventing bicycle theft and a Come & Try option for those of you who might want to try racing but ...under controlled conditions with a coach & marshals supervising. Oh, and not to mention some great local talent who will be racing.... http://www.northerncombinecycling.org/index./46-hracing/603

08.01.2022 A mobile bike service such as DriveClean is complementary to your local bike shop. We bring the convienence to you so that you can enjoy your everyday riding. A shop offers a depth of services and products plus is very much part of the cycling community. Here are a few shops where we would be happy to take our own bikes: Pista Bikes in South Yarra Melbourne Bicycle Centre in Clifton Hill LYGON CYCLES in Brunswick Northside Cycles in North Melbourne

06.01.2022 We gave a lunchtime talk last week about riding safely to work. The organisation was launching a healthy lifestyle activation for their people. The talk was well received by over 100 attendees. Just another way DriveClean can partner with your organisation

06.01.2022 Spent the weekend with some high performing machines up in Kyneton at the 3 Day Tour. Between capturing results, spotting King of Mountains and having fun tweeting interviews to @3daytour, I got to work with some nice new toys.

05.01.2022 After several years of being involved with the Northern Combine Cycling - Official, Peter is proud to serve as president for 2018. The Combine has existed in one form or another for the last century providing cycing races for 8 Melbourne cycling clubs. It is a great example of a grass roots, volunteer led organisation building community through cycling. For the upcoming year, we are turning our attention to:... - Partnering with a further 3 clubs to run a winter handicap series. Handicaps are a bit of a lost cycling art that require significant planning so by partnering we can run great events and share the workload - A new community partnership with LaTrobe University to provide a fantastic venue for a cycling event right in Melbourne - Embedding a restructure that focuses the Combine on hosting community events, not just running races for athletes. http://www.northerncombinecycling.org

05.01.2022 The 3 Day Tour is a classic part of Melbourne cycling over the Queens Birthday weekend. DriveClean was there again this year, and amongst other things, putting the media together. The final product is here: https://youtu.be/H43cyQVdI2M

05.01.2022 There are so many amazingly talented people out there whose skills may be lying dormant. It isn't a question of giving somebody a chance, rather it is one of whether you want the best people in your team - the best doesn't always mean the easiest. https://hbr.org//neurodiversity-as-a-competitive-advantage

03.01.2022 There is still time to sign-up for or support the Peter Mac's Unite to Fight Cancer on 28 October. DriveClean is helping by providing the mechanical pit stop in Brighton for the ride. It's great to partner with our client in this way. https://unitetofightcancer.org.au/

03.01.2022 Storing your bike for winter? Some of you may not enjoy riding over winter as much as we do. Before putting your bike away for a few months, a quick, 10 minute clean will leave you immensely happy when it comes time to ride again. Here are a few tips on what you can do. Of course there is always more you can do, but this will get you a long way there. https://youtu.be/JrnFOA6j77k

02.01.2022 Very happy to be donning the new DriveClean aprons today. Thanks to Cargo Crew for keeping us looking good and doing it before Christmas.

02.01.2022 Introducing the November BOM.... The Bike of Month wants to recognise the coolest bikes from DriveClean customers. Each week, customers can show-off some great pics of their bike on this post and at the end of the month, we will choose the BOM. Besides glory, that person also gets a free bike cleaning.

02.01.2022 Some cycling inspired visualisations for you on a Tuesday morning, though Beethoven probably had other things on his mind when during the composition.

02.01.2022 New Year's Resolutions? For women looking to do more cycling, this is a great initiative run by Hawthorn Cycling Club sponsored by Melbourne Bicycles (a shop DriveClean is a fan of). A women's only handicap on Saturday 16 Feb on a great course around Macedon. There are skill sessions leading up to it to. Handicaps are a very team oriented way to race and get a fantastic work-out. http://hawthorncycling.org/melbourne-bicycles-hanging-rock/

01.01.2022 CBD Cycles closed up recently due to the unfortunate passing of Anthony, the owner. Anth was a long time supporter of Melbourne cycling and triathlon - he put in countless hours to help the community. The sale this Saturday in Port Melbourne will help his family clear the stock from the store. There are some ripper deals to be had. DriveClean will happily be there answering questions and hopefully selling a few things.
