22.01.2022 Oh Wow. I don't even know how to say this, so I'm just going to tell you what's happened. There was a misunderstanding between Council and our planners, it turn...s out the VCAT objection period did not expire on the 7th, but goes till the 18th of Dec. So when we happily announced there were no objections... we were too early due to this misinformation. Infuriatingly, *an objection has now been lodged* by an individual who has a long history of objecting to projects in proximity to power lines. This person is a friend-of-a-friend, so I chatted with them on their Facebook post boasting about their objection, to explain that our staff will be FURTHER AWAY from the power lines than existing houses, schools, etc already are, but... well... see for yourself. He's not interested in the facts. As of this writing I've not had a reply to my last message to him last night. I've copied our conversation in the images attached. Based on his history of objections and his responses here in this thread, I think there's little chance of him doing the right thing and withdrawing the VCAT application, however I'll continue to try and persuade him. This will obviously have an impact on when we open, VCAT can sometimes take 'only' a few months, but can often become a process that takes 6 months or even a year. At this stage it's impossible to predict. On behalf of the whole team at Drive we're so sorry for yet ANOTHER delay, I know how excited everyone is and we're so thankful that you're here with us as a part of this journey. We're especially grateful for everyone who has 'kept the faith' through the long delays in council up to this point. We thought we were done with the uncertainty, but it seems we have to fight once more just to be allowed to create jobs and entertainment and opportunity for the people of Melbourne. Speaking as the MD of Drive Go Karting, can I assure you that we are as committed to this as we were on day 1, and we will persevere until it's built and our vision for the next generation of go karting is a reality rather than a dream. Speaking personally, it's very disappointing that someone would do this with seemingly no regard for how it impacts the lives of others. We're not some big corporate run by suits with seven figure salaries and caviar for lunch! We're a group of families and individuals who have come together to invest in a dream and make it a reality. Every delay hurts me, my family, and the families of my investors, financially and emotionally. Drive Go Karting has been a 4 year journey for me so far, from when I had the idea for the reconfigurable track, to creating the business plan, securing the patent, finding investors, finding land, and then the journey through council... that's more than 4 years of my life right there. 2.5 years ago I left my job to focus on this full time. Since then my family of 3 (soon to be 4) has been supported by my wife and her Mortgage Broking business. It's been tough, it's been a hard time in my wife's industry as well and we've made a lot of sacrifices over the last few years to keep this dream alive. And now the already long road has been made even longer, by someone who doesn't even understand what it is that he's objecting to, and isn't interested in knowing the truth. We are reviewing our options and planning our path through VCAT as we speak. Obviously we will deal with this as fast as we can, but we have no idea how long it will take. REFUNDS ON THE PRESOLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE if you want one. Message the page and we'll arrange it. Otherwise you can keep it and we will obviously honour it when we open, whenever that turns out to be. (It may still be late 2020, but we just don't know.) In the unlikely event that the VCAT decision doesn't go our way then we will provide refunds in full to everyone. I'm so sorry. If you're frustrated and disappointed then you can only imagine how we feel. We'll keep you posted as we work to overcome this new obstacle that's been put in our way. The VCAT appeal period on our application has expired, it's done, the negotiations have ended, we know exactly where we stand and what we have to do to be compliant with all our conditions, it's DONE! The team at Drive feel a little like Sam and Frodo after they threw the ring into Mordor...... A huge thankyou to our planners, architect, the many (MANY) consultants we've needed along the way, and to the council itself. It's too late to get our crews on site this year, but we'll get ready to get them on site next year and get cracking on the construction of our incredible track and on site facilities. 14.01.2022 Yesterday we gave you the details of the Grand Prix 60, our most expensive Championship in the Pre-Launch Sale. Today we're talking about our CHEAPEST championship, the Sprint 15! Each Championship is made up of 12 rounds, and you'll be able to choose between a weekly or monthly race schedule, with races scheduled on the same day of the week / month.... Details are: 12 x rounds, each round includes a 5 minute Qually session and a 10 minute Race. Raced on the 'Sprint' tracks, which are ~500m long and can have up to 16 karts at once. 3 HOURS of track time total. $397 in the Pre-Launch Sale, down from $588 retail! 07.01.2022 Say Hello to the Grand Prix 40! The most affordable Championship to run on the ~1km long Grand Prix Circuits! As you know, we have 24 different tracks, of which 12 are 'Sprint' tracks about 500m long, and 12 are 'Grand Prix' tracks about 1km long. The 'Grand Prix 40' is the shortest (and therefore the most affordable) Championship to use the 12 Grand Prix tracks, and allow up to 32 go karts on track at once!... The details are: 12 x 40 minute rounds, 15 minute qually, 25 minute race! Up to 32 go karts on track for MASSIVE battle packs! Every race is on a different track, each approx 1km long! 03.01.2022 "Can I buy an EXCLUSIVE Championship for just me and my mates in the Pre-Sale?" We've been asked that question a few times already, by sports clubs, groups of mates, and even a few work places! The answer is YES! If you want an exclusive Championship that isn't open to the public, you can!... You'll need to buy a minimum of 10 seats for a Sprint Championship, or 16 seats for a Grand Prix championship to get exclusive track use, but if you do then the track is ALL YOURS! You can even create a custom schedule, such as racing every fortnight (instead of weekly or monthly) or even scheduling each race on a case-by-case basis to suit your workplace or other scheduling needs! (great for groups of mates who do shift work together! 03.01.2022 We won in VCAT today! All of Rob Wilson's claims against us have been thrown out and our planning permit has been granted 'effective immediately'. VCAT have agreed with us that the claims were baseless and it was all just a waste of time.... We are now free to get the building permits, and once that's done we'll get the machinery back on site and get on with it. We'll keep you updated as we progress. It's incredibly disappointing that people would choose to use the planning system and VCAT to try and stop us for no valid reason, but we're through it all now and can finally get on with the job of creating the greatest go karting experience you've ever seen! Thanks to all of your for your patience, we can't wait to reward you on our opening day!!!

03.01.2022 This is the idea that started it all. Patent Application No: PCT/AU2019/0000015 This is a race track designed for maximum reconfigurability.... After he had the initial idea, MD Chris Field spent months scribbling in a notebook like a madman until he finally struck upon a set of rules, a 'method', which if followed would yield a track with 24 different layouts, EACH at least 50% unique from any other individual layout. Pictured here are the 12 'Grand Prix' layouts, 6 running clockwise, 6 anti-clockwise. There are 12 more 'Sprint' tracks, which are half-length, and we showed you those a few days ago. This reconfigurable track is the core around which everything else at Drive Go Karting is built. This is why we're the Next Generation of go karting centre, because we're not just about birthdays, end of year work trips, and parties... we're making the SPORT of motor racing affordable and accessible to all! 01.01.2022 We promised more detail about our Championship Pre-Launch Sale, so lets start by talking about the big one, the grand-daddy of them all, the Grand Prix 60! The Grand Prix 60, like ALL our championships, is made up of 12 rounds, and when we release our schedule next year you'll be able to choose between a monthly or a weekly schedule. The details are:... 12 x rounds, each round includes a 20 minute qually, and 40 minute race. (pick your preferred time slot when we release the calendar next year) All GP 60 championships will be scheduled from Mon-Thu in the evening. (always on the same day of the week / month, your choice) All races are on the 'Grand Prix' tracks which are ~1km long with up to 32 karts at once. 12 HOURS of track time! All for $996 (down from $1,620 normal price!) If that sounds good to you, then keep an eye out for the launch of our Pre-Launch Sale later this coming week! If that's a bit out of your reach, don't despair! We'll be giving you the details for the GP 40, Sprint 30, and Sprint 15 championships in coming days. Stay tuned!

01.01.2022 Help us solve an office argument! Now that the Tesla Cybertruck has been revealed, to collective 'gasps' all over the world, which of these is the better option for the Drive company car. Both meet the basic criteria of: ... 1. A bed big enough for a go kart. 2. Pure Electric. 3. Insane performance. 4. Seating for 5+ One of them looks like a truck designed in 2020, the other looks like a truck designed in 1980, of what they THOUGHT our trucks would look like in 2020...
