He was kept chained in the caretaker’s cottage for 40 years, before Harold was found curled up at the feet of his mother’s dead body. He died shortly after being sent to a home for the insane. The sound of clanking chains is said to warn of his approach. 01.01.2022 ABANDONED CAR GRAVEYARD! One of the most unique camping spots in the state, this car graveyard is a great stopover point for anyone travelling through the area, or even to stay the night. The buildings in the area make for a very unique photo opportunity, as well as the surrounding rusted cars spread across a vast area making the entire experience feel like you are in some end-of-the-world movie!... Once being a train station in the 1900’s, it was also a stopover spot for fuel, food and just a general break from driving, as there is not much in the surrounding area. The whole attraction to the area really is how vast and plain the landscape is. Nearby the car graveyard there is also an abandoned shearing shed and some amazing caves! The homestead itself is 16 km off the Highway, and about 100 km before the border. Unfortunately, there will be no signs to guide you towards the area. The simple constructs in this piece of Australian history do not include major communications methods or road signs. It’s wise to contact the National Park for more details about how to be guided towards the area.
