08.01.2022 We get a lot of questions about vehicle standards and modifications so our recent post on protrusions is to remind people to fit accessories in a safe manner. T...hinking about the safety of accessories when purchasing them will prevent problems later. Many pedestrian collisions happen at low speed. These tips do not remove all risk, but with holidays approaching and lots of people going fishing, camping, caravanning and off-roading, it is a nice time to think of the well-being of others. Tow bars are not a problem if they do not protrude beyond the ute tray or rear mounted spare wheel, but if they do protrude they should be removed or fitted with a protector when not in use. Fishing rod holders can be mounted or swivelled to the rear of a bull bar so they are not protruding or removed when not in use. Ladder racks can be removed when not in use. Driving lamps can be mounted within the frame of a bull bar or below the line of the bonnet. Winches built into the bull bar that don’t protrude are OK. Winches that protrude dangerously can be removed when not going off-road. Have a safe and happy Christmas.

04.01.2022 You have seen the sign, but what does it mean? Shared zones are usually coloured or paved road areas that make it easier for pedestrians to use a road or thorou...ghfare. They can also be in carparks. There must be a sign indicating that the area is a ‘shared zone’. In shared zones, pedestrians take priority. Vehicles must give way to all pedestrians entering or already on the zone. The speed limit may be reduced and must be obeyed. Take care when driving in a shared zone, give way to pedestrians and stick to the speed limit. See more
