22.01.2022 It was great to sit down for coffee and biscuits with Marg, Melissa, and Michelle. These long time Bull Creek locals are a testament to Riverton’s community spirit. Marg’s house is a hub for her neighbours, and when the COVID restrictions came in to place, Marg wasn’t going to allow it to upset their regular catch-ups. Instead of having coffee and biscuits at Marg’s house, these neighbours decided they’d have it from their driveways instead, picking up conversations from the... day before in slightly more raised voices. The health of the community is what is most important to these wonderful neighbours, and what will be most important to me should I be lucky enough to be elected the next Member for Riverton. Thanks for having us Marg!

22.01.2022 The McGowan Government has announced $5.2 million to help mature age apprentices into training. Mature age apprentices can find it tough to enter or re-enter the workforce due to the higher cost of adult education wages. By funding the gap in wage costs between mature age and junior apprentices, we’ll help businesses take on more mature age apprentices.

12.01.2022 **$90,000 for the Aviation Heritage Museum of Western Australia for three new exhibits** The Premier Mark McGowan and Minister for Veterans Issues Peter Tinley AM joined me at the RAAFA Aviation Heritage Museum to announce that a re-elected McGowan Government would fund three new exhibits, including one focused on the Australian aviatrix Robin Miller, aka the Sugar Bird Lady. Robin became known as the Sugar Bird Lady after distributing 37,000 doses of the Polio vaccination t...o remote communities of Western Australia. The remote Indigenous communities named her the Sugar Bird Lady because the oral vaccine was disguised in a sugar lump to hide the bitter taste. Robin was a forgotten hero of Australian Aviation. With a new exhibit dedicated to Robin, the staff and dedicated volunteers at the Museum, hope that more aviation enthusiasts and young people with learn about Robin.

04.01.2022 Hilda runs the local Coffee Club at Stockland Riverton and was kind enough to host my coffee clinic this past week. Hilda fixes the mornings of people who don’t much care for mornings (myself included!) That morning, Hilda spotted someone living out of their car in the car park. She went out of her way to deliver them breakfast and coffee. It’s more important than ever that we support small businesses. There’s no better way to do that than helping the Coffee Club celebrate t...heir one-year anniversary at Stockland Riverton by popping in for a visit. Thank you to Hilda and the team for hosting us, and for the amazing work you do.

04.01.2022 On Remembrance Day, we come together as a community to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who gave their lives to defend our freedoms. We observe one minute’s silence on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month each year to honour those who lived and died during WWI and in other wars and conflicts involving Australia’s armed services. I encourage members of the Riverton community to show their respect for those who have served in the Australian defence forces by observing one minute’s silence.

04.01.2022 I met Wilhelmina last week. Wilhelmina is nearly 90, but her age isn’t holding her back. Wilhelmina showed me a blanket she knitted for her neighbours’ grand daughter. It’s this kind of neighbourliness that makes Riverton an amazing place to live. Thanks Wilhelmina.

02.01.2022 I was honoured to join the Chung Wah Association on Monday to celebrate their 110th anniversary.
