09.01.2022 Despite the fact that we have marriage equality now, it is worth remembering two things: 1) Discrimination still exists and we need to continue improving our so...ciety towards greater egalitarianism 2) The extreme right of our country can and has taken us backwards, so we need to keep fighting for maintaining the wins that gave rights that we all deserve. It needs to be remembered that the Marriage Amendment Act 2004 passed by the Liberal federal government took away the rights of states to recognise same-sex marriage. That is, we went backwards. And then when the Labor Party were in power (2007-2013), they refused to pass marriage equality. Even years later the Labor Party had non-binding position to allow conscience votes. Many parts of Labor are reluctant to push for egalitarianism. There are very few parties that have had a long-term policy of endorsing same-sex marriage rights. The Science Party is one of them. Our position is derived fundamentally from our principles of anti-discrimination and the rights of the individual.

News Corp can name their price, and if it is not acceptable to Facebook, their only option is to ban ALL news sources. The proposed laws are bad for the free market of ideas on the internet.
