24.01.2022 Photobiomodulation (PBM) using lasers and light has made huge strides the last 12 months. It is now recommended by US Congress as part of their Opioid Crisis Response Act to reduce opioid dependency and their resulting overdoses. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in the UK released guidelines for the National Health Service and recommends PBM for the treatment of oral mucositis one of the most debilitating side-effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and ha...emopoietic stem cells transplants. US Veterans are now using PBM to assist in the treatment PTSD, CTE, traumatic brain injury and Parkinsons disease with increasing success.

20.01.2022 This morning I did a presentation for the staff at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse in Sydney. I talked about laser photobiomodulation and how it can be used for the side effects of chemo- and radiotherapy. Presently I'm doing a Masters project, looking at lasers to treat oral mucositis and how I can help the hospital get a trial started. Thanks to Dr Tim Eviston for the invitation to speak and to the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse for having me there! I would love to be able to speak to other cancer clinics and hospitals and have them be part of a multi-centre study on oral mucositis.

18.01.2022 Very happy to be able to have run a small introductory course for our new LightWalker users. Definitely the most technically challenging presentation that I’ve had to do with three cameras! One from the laptop, another wideview camera and the fantastic Elio digital microscope/light for the closeup view. I used OBS (Open Broadcasting System) like a YouTuber to change between the multiple overlayed views for Zoom. A few technical hitches esp internet speed but it worked!

01.01.2022 This recently published study shows an improvement to salivary gland function from light therapy can lead to a significant reduction in the caries-risk of susceptible patients. Photobiomodulation has also been shown to increase salivary flow in cancer patients that have head and neck radiotherapy. Oral ulcers and cold sores (HSV) heal more quickly and are less painful with light treatments.
