23.01.2022 Wonderful, selfless tips by Haley Drew This A selfless act of kindness has been shown to increase our positive emotions. Why not set yourself the challenge of offering one small act of kindness every day for 30 days, and see what impact that has on your mood, happiness and wellbeing?

22.01.2022 We spend over one-third of our lives at work (that's the estimate, anyway!). What if we spent more of that time feeling happy? It's not about being happy ALL the time or just thinking happy thoughts but, rather, seeking out new ways to feel better about our life and work in general so that we can have more better days that we enjoy, overall.... Curious about any of the 13 elements? Last year I put together an eGuide outlining how to create more happiness at work and each element you can have a read here: http://bit.ly/HappinessAtWork2020 #happinessatwork

19.01.2022 One of the results of the global pandemic has been a surge in reported psychological distress, anxiety and depression - a doubling in six months. This is putting an immeasurable strain on those providing mental health services that were already struggling pre-Covid. Prevention is NO LONGER an option The time was yesterday for governments, health leaders and practitioners to reimagine how to reduce the burden by mood disorders by promoting mental wellbeing The beauty of this i...s it's lifestyle based, evidence-backed, inexpensive and has the potential to significantly improve physical AND mental wellbeing. Bonus! #ThrivingMind #mentalwellness https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/wps.20773

18.01.2022 Time for a wacky word! What familiar word, phrase or saying is represented in this image? Hint: this will help to prevent loneliness

Have a listen here: https://pakmag.com.au//episode-73-how-to-cultivate-your-b/... #beyourbest #ThrivingMind

For me, it's electing to DO less and be content with what I achieve... https://mailchi.mp/26e/six-ideas-what-you-can-do-this-week

15.01.2022 For any workplace, trust is critical to its success, not just in regard to customer service, but for every relationship between all employees at all levels. Authenticity and vulnerability are key. If you trust your boss and your colleagues, you are more likely to:... Enjoy your work Take more care in how you do it Contribute more Collaborate more effectively with other members of a team Stay longer in the role Sounds a good place to work, right? Has working from home changed your relationship with your colleagues?

14.01.2022 How many 4+ letter words can you find? Bonus point if you find the 9-letter word! P.S. No reusing letters

14.01.2022 When was the last time you sat down and worked on a riddle? Give your brain a stretch and figure this one out! Leave your guess in the comments and share with a friend. I'll reveal the answer in the comments tomorrow! #brainteaser

14.01.2022 Inside #ThrivingMind: "Happiness builds resilience." 13.01.2022 A fishy tale on what drives us to sleep after a big day: Increasing brain activity in zebrafish larvae (using caffeine) showed the larvae slept for longer after the drug effect had worn off suggesting it's not just how long we are awake for that drives us to sleep but also how mentally active we've been during that time. We are not zebrafish but we share the common trait of sleeping every night

12.01.2022 Showing you care strengthens your relationships, boosts moods and elevates happiness. And, even better, being kind doesn't have to involve anything huge. It could be no more than: Sharing your umbrella with someone waiting to cross the road when it's pouring with rain Giving a stranger money for the parking meter if you notice they are struggling to find the right coins... Offering to help someone struggling with a giant suitcase up a long staircase in the metro How have you cultivated kindness today?

12.01.2022 Your prescription to THRIVE Because as Abraham Maslow said, "One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again." #ThrivingMind

10.01.2022 Two great types of optimism illustrated by Haley Drew This. Yes our mindset is a choice but much can influence your level (and type) of optimism at any point in time including: Your emotions... Your environment Your mental and physical wellbeing What do you like to do when you're facing adversity and finding it hard to adopt any type of optimism? Let me know your stories below, no matter their shape or form

07.01.2022 I’d like to ask you two questions: What makes you happy? and Has the pandemic changed your overall level of happiness?... In times of adversity, it’s easy to get weighed down by negative thoughts and feelings. But does that mean we can’t still experience happiness? Happiness is just one of our emotions and we can lift our spirits to enjoy greater hope and optimism by choosing to be happier using one strategy that is simple to use, costs nothing and is always freely available. It’s called nature.

06.01.2022 Time to have a stretch, take a deep breath, and get your brain in shape for the week ahead! How many triangles can you count in the shape? I'll reveal the answer in 24 hours

06.01.2022 Very excited to join some great presenters in contributing to the 5 Minutes for Me podcast by Great Expectation Speakers and Trainers. You can listen to my episode, 'Be Your Best Self', by downloading the App called '5 Minutes for Me'. The App is precisely about that taking 5 minutes out of our day to gain some insights and learn what has helped others to improve their resilience, perform well and thrive.

05.01.2022 Some good news for you! Great to read about our small, neighbourly acts of kindness during this time and goes to show that one small act of kindness can inspire another, and another. Have you heard of any kind stories recently?... #ActsOfKindess #kindness #thrivingmind

05.01.2022 Serotonin isn't always the good guy when it comes to regulating our mood. Also known as the happy hormone, 95% of our serotonin is produced in the gut. New research has shown how the microbiome (in mice) communicates with serotonin-producing cells in the gut, raising levels that impact blood sugar levels and potential metabolic dysfunction.... #mood #happiness #wellbeing

04.01.2022 Has something put a smile on your face today? How about a little music over lunch? Thank you @TomWeir for the share If only school lunches could always be as exciting... https://www.youtube.com/embed/JNgCM7zp30M

04.01.2022 I’ve always valued time in nature. An early morning walk before the rest of the world awakes, a stroll along the beach as the waves crash onto the shore there’s nothing that gives me greater pleasure than feeling the warmth of the sun on my face, a soft breeze and the sounds of birdsong and feeling at one with the world. But as we have moved to live in more urbanised centres, where work takes precedence over almost everything else, the time we spend outside has diminished.... Did you know that the average American spends 90% of their time awake each day, indoors? This can have a number of adverse effects on our health and mental wellbeing. It’s time to get out more to appreciate the beauty of our natural world and reap the benefits of better health and happiness. Here's why: https://www.drjennybrockis.com//how-spending-time-with-mo/

03.01.2022 Has the pandemic affected your level of trust?
