18.01.2022 This should be the creed of all music teachers!

05.01.2022 Not as if we didn't know already, but always good to have it confirmed again! https://musiceducationworks.wordpress.com//a-childs-brain/

01.01.2022 Five years ago I stood in front of the Berlin Philharmonic to take the enthusiastic applause of a full house with Sir Simon Rattle and with colleagues with whom I reconstructed and completed one of the great symphonies of the orchestral repertoire - the Bruckner Ninth Symphony. The BPO's recording of it went on to make Best Orchestral CD of 2013. Incredible evening!! Saw my Italian colleague Nicola Samale again after 20 years, spoke at the pre-concert talk in German (went smo...othly, thankfully). Then witnessed the performance of a lifetime! The Berlin Philharmonie packed to the rafters (concert sold out), orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle playing the 90 minute, 4 movement work with such commitment and passion as I have seldom if ever heard. Rapt attention from the audience. At the end of the completed last movement the audience sat in what seemed like a state of thunder-struck awe. It was fully several seconds before anyone dared clap. Then applause went on forever. Eventually SR gave a short speech and called us up on stage to another long round of applause. Orchestra manager so happy and grateful to us that they had done our work. Afterwards dinner with colleagues as guest of the orchestra, wonderful conversation with Sir Simon Rattle, the nicest superstar conductor imaginable (so few are!). The pictures give some idea. One of the great moments of my life. See more
